Brant for a first name

Dh likes this name a lot for a boy but it reminds me of something negative...when you hear it what do you think of? Like what kind of guy comes to mind?

it doesn't sounds like a legitimate name. no type of guy comes to mind b/c it sounds made up.

I knew a ki growing up named Brantley and he went by Brant...also taught a Brandt so it's not made up...FWIW though I think of a bratty kid- "Brant the brat". Brent may be a better option....

I went to school with a Brant and he was very smart and really nice. I don't remember him getting made fun of for his name.

Brant is my DH's middle name, so I think of him. He doesn't like it but I do.

I had a friend in college named Brant--very nice guy--so for me it's a positive name.

I imagine a white guy, likely a jock, possibly from a southern or blue blood-type family. NMS but nothing bad, necessarily.

I went to school with two guys named Brandt, I think they both spelled it with the "d". It's a perfectly legitimate name, I believe it's German.?

My cousins name is Brant and he is intelligent, was a jock and got a full athletic scholarship to college. Not too bad and I love the name.

Nothing negative comes to mind. I like it, but if YOU think something negative then it is not the name you should use for your son.

I didn't know it was a name until I saw your post. It might not BE made up, but it LOOKS made up to me because of that unfamiliarity. I do think Brandt looks more legit as a name. I also would see a white guy....maybe a lacrosse player.

I like Bryant, Grant, and Brent better.

I've known a Brant and a Brandt and have always thought it was a neat name. I don't recall either one of them ever being teased for his name. Both were smart and nice young men.
