Let it slip who her doctor was when she had her last baby 14 months ago. She definitely did not deliver at the hospital that she teaches baby care and prepared childbirth classes. Seemed kind of odd to me

Re: So, the baby care class instructor
Same here.
She could've felt strange having her coworkers and friends deliver her baby. She could still have the same doctor she's always had, long before she worked at the hospital.
It could be her insurance.
I wouldn't think it reflects on the hospital at all and wouldn't worry about it.
I thought it was weird because you would think you would work at a hospital that you believe in enough to use. Not that big of a deal, just a little weird to me. Especially since she's a prepared childbirth instructor, it just seems like teaching about childbirth at one hospital and then delivering at another is kind of like being a teacher in one school district and then sending your kids to another. It just sends a weird message.
And if your job is at a hospital I would think your insurance would cover delivery at that hospital
That's all

My parents have been teachers for years and we never lived in the district where they taught... well, and they teach in two different districts.
I bet the vast majority of public school teachers have children that go to different schools/districts.
Me neither. There could be many explanations for this.
Insurance covers particular doctors, but where the doctors practice/deliver is up to them. I don't think it reflects poorly on your teacher or the hospital. I can see why you might think that initially, though.
I know this is OT but I would never send my kids to the urban district where I teach but that is another story all together. I do see your original analogy but I agree with one of the pp who stated maybe her dr doesn't deliver at that hospital or there is one closer to her house...
