St. Jude pediatricians

Well, we thought we were using our GP for our family doctor and it turns out we might not be able to, any recs for a good pediatrician with St. Jude Heritage? Anything you can tell me about them?

Thanks :)

Re: St. Jude pediatricians

  • Good question. I am interested too. I wanted to use our GP (actually his PA who I adore) but she suggested we go with a pedi. She said she'd of course see our baby but she think we should go traditional pedi.

  • We've been with the office off of Prospect in YL since she was born and have been very happy.  We originally had Dr. Marino who was awesome but he's since gone onto an administration position within St. Jude.  When he left we moved over to Dr. Lillian Lai-Wu and I really like her.  She has such a wonderful bedside manner with the kids (and parents) and has a way of putting my kid at ease.  She had to lance something on dd and that was seriously NOT fun for any of us but she was quick about it and so caring for both dd and I.  She has two small children of her own and actually just returned from maternity leave.

I've never once been denied a same day appt. because they have several dr.'s in their office and if I call the nurse with a question I always get a call back within a few hours.  Love them!  Good luck girls!

  • Awww thanks SO much Nikki! That was the office we were actually considering.....but we did not know that Dr. Marino was no longer with them...I love the Nest...lol Thanks for the Rec.

MR~ I wish that we could stay with out GP because she is THE BEST...but she is in La Mirada and she has no privileges at St. Jude + a few other factors that are making her not so desirable from a financial POV. GL with your search as well :)

  • Our GP is at the office in Diamond Bar (I think it's the only St. Jude office that is not in OC). I think there is a pediatrician in that office though because I always see kids going in and out of one of the suites.

Are you looking for a new GP for yourself as well? Because I highly recommend Dr. David Rhodes at the Diamond Bar office. I also highly recommend his PA Holly Ferguson. Their office is like the one NikiGee described...several doctors and PAs, you can get same day apts. if you don't mind seeing someone different. They have a lab there, x-rays, physical therapy...so much can be done all in that office.

It's SO convenient and I love it so much that even when we moved out to Rancho Cucamonga I stayed with them! We're moving back to Diamond Bar this  month though so we'll be closer.

GL finding a new doctor..I hate switching.

Aww thanks for the luck, I am going to need it...she will be hard to replace. :)  I have never had a better/quicker pap ( hope that wasnt TMI...lol) But I need a female doctor to replace her, thats where things get tricky. I think that I may stay with her for my first PP visit and then switch....not 100% sure though.

  • Z, if you're looking for a new female GP you might consider trying Dr. Marlene Mires.  I go to her and she's at the St. Jude Heritage Health in Brea (right near where old Brea Comm Hospital used to be).  I like her a lot and also love their PA, Angela Castro, who is wonderful.  Just another suggestion!

Totally understand. That's one of the reasons I prefer my PA to my MD. She does my paps. Although I'll probably stick with the group I'm at now since I know they do straight gyn along with the OB.

  • My SIL and friend go to the doctors office with Dr Kang and Dr Longnecker (is it the same office Marino was at???). I think they both felt rushed with Dr Kang but love everyone else especially the nurse practicioner, Barbara (I believe).

ETA: I just read Niki's comment and this office is in Fullerton and there's a Dr Mareno (not Marino) there that my friend likes as well.

  • Thanks Cort! We were looking at Dr. Kang as well. I will be calling both offices today to see if either doctors are taking new ( and soon arriving ...lol ) patients :)

Thanks for all the help ladies!!
