anyone else experiencing period like cramps?

This is my first pregnancy so I don;t know what contractions feel like.  but i have been up the last hour with period like cramping in my stomach. my stomach is also hard as a rock.  I was at the doctor on thursday at 34 weeks and i am not dialated at all. So this can't be anything to get too excited about.

just wanted to know if these are fake contractions or what?

    Those are contractions. Only way to know whether they are real or fake is to know if they are dilating your cervix. If you have more than 8 in an hour, you need to call your doctor (even though it's night).

    My dr told me I feel the cramps due to the pressure of the baby moving down.

    These just started for me this week.. I have noticed they last anywhere from 5 minutes total to an hour.. and so far they keep going away..so my next appointment is Wednesday and I am mentioning it.. damn I forgot what period cramps were like.. the joys!! Good luck!!

    I've had them off and on for about three weeks, and I'm also 3 cm. dilated and 60% effaced. I'm not sure if they are BH or just normal pregnancy pains. My dr. said they are normal.

    you may just be dehydrated. drink some water or gatorade and relax with your feet up!

    I would get really strong period-like cramps accompanied by a sharp pain in my cervix about every 15 minutes for about a 3 hour span earlier this week.  The Dr told me to get off my feet and drink some more water.  She said if lying down doesn't make them go away (and she said I had to seriously not get up and just rest for at least an hour) and they started coming every 5 minutes for at least an hour I needed to go straight to the hospital.
