Providence Mommies?

I'm going into Providence with my two babies. we're taking the train from nyc.  how's public transit in Providence?  Would it be do-able to walk from the train station to downtown?   Any great kid friendly things to do?  Any that are free?  Need carseats in Taxis?(in case we get in a jam)

    Public transport is so-so, the only public transport available are buses and taxis.  The city is really small so you can pretty much walk everywhere.  From the train station you can go anywhere downtown.  The mall and numerous hotels are steps away.  If you plan on going anywhere by cab you will definitely want car seats.  The Prov Children's Museum is a great place to go and they always have something special going on.  Good luck and enjoy the trip:)
