umbrella or tent at the beach?

For those who have taken LOs the beach, did you use a big umbrella or one of those tents? where is a good place to find either of these? I checked out target and it seems I am too late for the umbrellas. any ideas?

    We got the Lil Nursery Tent but ended up using my ILs umbrella instead. Some beaches do rent the umbrellas.

    We were debating the umbrella vs. a tent earlier this summer and decided on an umbrella...great choice!  It gave DD plenty of room to move around under the shade once she became a little mobile.  I doubt that she would stay in a tent except if she was asleep.  Tents are much more expensive too!

    We bought a tent from Kidco but DS spent most of his time under the umbrella.  We were in OCNJ and they had umbrellas and chairs to rent on the beach.
