I'm still having a lot of pain when my LO nurses. ?She's been nursing for a bit over a week now. ?For those of you who went through this, when did it stop hurting for you? ?I've already checked with a LC and my LO is latching on correctly. ?I feel like giving up and exclusively pumping. ?I tried it yesterday but it was so inconvenient having to pump every 3 hours in 30 min. sessions and then clean the breast pump and bottles, then feed baby. ?I'm thinking of going back to nursing today but dread the pain...
Re: When did yours go away?
You won't want to hear my response... it will take a while. May be a week, maybe five. It seems at the time it will be an eternity...
... but do know it gets to the point where it is enjoyable. Stick it out. My daughter turned 7 months this weekend and there is nothing better in the world than that first nursing of the morning. She is all sleepy and sweet, it doesn't hurt at ALL, in fact it feels good and it's a special bonding moment.
It hurt... for a couple of weeks. But I promised myself to get to six weeks and if it still sucked I could quit. By time I got to six weeks I forgot that pact I made with myself.
Good luck!
Consistent pain went away around week 3-4. I still have days where my nips are more sensitive than others... usually after DS has done a lot of cluster feeding. Are you using lanolin after each feeding? I couldn't live without that stuff!
About 4 weeks. When it got really bad, I used a nipple shield on and off. My LO did well switching back and forth between the shield and the nipple, but some don't.
It gets better and when it does, it is really nice and totally worth it.
This!
