Two Under 2

Q for those who weren't protecting

So if you decided to just see what happens, and not use any for mf BC, how long did it take for you to get pg? I BF and have gotten AF twice. We are going to ttc in december, but I am thinking of just letting things go now. any advice? I know everyone is different, im just curious.

 Thanks for sharing

Re: Q for those who weren't protecting

  • That's what we did... we hoped for a small age difference and just went with it.?

I EBF and got pg around 6 months. AF showed up at 4 months then I had a long almost 55 day cycle and then got PG 2 weeks after AF #2 so that cycle was going to be normal.?

I used ovulation tests every now and then to have somewhat of an idea.

  • I EBF, and got PG with DD#2 the first month we decided to be more "aware" (no charting or anything). Got PG with DS, but we weren't trying at all - he was a surprise........

  • umm.. pretty much the first time! And (TMI) it was one time only too.

I BF for 9 months, went off minipill, had 2 AFs, then we decided to just see what happened and if we weren't PG by May, we'd start actively TTC. That month we got a BFP :)

    CP 3/07
    BFP 5/07 - Kylie born 2/08.       BPF 2/09 - Alexandra born 10/09.
TTC since 8/13 - diagnosed difficulty conceiving due to LP defect. Took vitamin B and Vitex Berry to help lengthen.
BFP 2/14 - Missed M/C found at 8.5 weeks. D&C at 9w2d. Partial Molar Pregnancy.
    BFP 11/14
  • I was EBFing but got AF at 5 months pp.  I had one more period (with a very long cycle) and got pg.

  • DH and I went to the Bahamas for a week when DD was 4 months old. We decided to just "not worry about it" while we were away. I didn't even want to go on the trip originally because I didn't want to leave her. Turns out we came home with her little brother or sister. :) So to answer your question, it took ONE TIME.
  • I was BFing and go my AF at 9 mo.  I got pg a few weeks later.  First month trying.

  • Took us 10 months with DS. We charted and all of that good stuff. This time around we did 'it" one night with out protection, wasn't even suppose to be ovulating, and boom I'm pregnant. I would wait until December if that is when you want to get pregnant. I have a friend who TTC for 10 years before she got pregnant with her ds, had unprotected sex once after ds was born and got pregnant right away.
  • I EP'd for 5 months.  A month after I quit, I got my first pp period.  Then DH and I had sex all of once - and here I am with my BFP!  My body actually regulated itself pretty quickly, because the day DH & I had sex was on day 19, and pre-preg, I ovulated on days 17-19.  Not sure if it was a fluke that I was that regular, but here I am!
  • I only BF for 6 weeks.  Got AF when LO was 3 months old.  Got pregnant two months later.
  • I EBF and got pregnant right away.

  • We needed medical help getting pregnant the first time around so never did we think we could get pg on our own, but one, just ONE time we were not careful and hello 2 under 2 :)

Me too except I had no idea when I'd be ovulating since my cycles have been so irregular

  • I EBF DD, got my period 8 wks post partum and got prego in 6 mos.

    Yikes!

  • Guess I'm one of the odd ones out here.  We had to take metformin to get pg with DS bc I did not have AF for 11 months after stopping BCP.  After DS was born, we decided there was no point in protecting and we were right. No AF for 9 months but I EBFed.  No BFP by DS 1st Birthday so we began met again and got pg in 2 months.  We are happy with the spacing since they will be 23 months apart.
  • I bfd. DS self-weaned at 9 months. I did not get AF while bfing. We were waiting for AF to return so I could start charting again and "trying" (though obviously we weren't preventing at all). ?That wasn't necessary since we conceived my first PP ovulatory cycle. ?Be prepared for it to happen at any time if this is the route you choose to go - it happened much faster this time around than we thought it would.

  • Like most of the others, I BF, had two seemingly random periods around 8 months and 12 months (still nursing) then got pregnant at 14 mos. the only time we had unprotected sex.  A bit of a surprise...not an unhappy one at all, but have to admit I'm still feeling a little uncertain at 12 weeks and counting...

Like pp said, if you really aren't ready quite yet, I wouldn't chance it - I'd wait until you're sure.

  • I BF'ed until 2 days ago (13 months) and never had an AF.  Stopped pumping at work at 10 months and that week (I believe) got PG.

  • I got 1st AF while I was EPing when DS was 5mo. I had 3 PP AF's and the ONE TIME we didn't use protection, we get pregnant with twins! DS was around 8 months old when we found out we were pregnant.
