Babies: 0 - 3 Months

I have been nursing for six hours

Since 10pm with only maybe 20 minute breaks in between. When I think she's done, she starts fussing and crying and wants to eat all over again. I kicked FI out of the bed at 2 to see if side lying would work but she just ate for 2 hrs straight. I finally told him to go back into the room and take care of her because I'm losing my mind. I'm so frustrated and tired. I feel like breastfeeding is so not worth it anymore.

Re: I have been nursing for six hours

  • She is not eating the entire time. When she is just sucking and not swallowing, take her off, offer a paci, and use other soothing methods.

  • I didn't offer the paci but around 2 I noticed she was just sucking so I took her off rocked her and put her down to sleep but she wolf up and started crying. Then at 3:30 she was just sucking again and since she was just in bed with me, I took her off and she woke up again fussing and crying. I don't know what's wrong.
  • And wolf up should be woke up lol I'm on my phone
  • Swaddle? Try the swing? White noise?

Let her latch on to daddy? haha, j/k - though I've proposed that to my DH...he was not amused.

I am so suggesting this next time... Mavila- good for you on giving yourself a break, and I'm glad your DH steps up. I do the same thing at around 10 or 11 every night. DH gets the baby and I go to bed for some much needed rest.
  • Awe, sounds like the 6 week growth spurt.  Des was nursing every 1.5 hours for a while.

I think this too.  If she is actively sucking and swallowing then leave at the boob.  It sucks she is cluster feeding at these times but it will soon pass.  I hope this passes and BF becomes more enjoyable.  Growth spurts really test our BF patience, so just try to stick w/ it through growth spurts.  Hopefully it will get better today. • The same thing happened to me 2 weeks ago.  I figured it was just the 3 week growth spurt and he was just cluster feeding.  I eventually called the peditrician because I was losing my mind and ready to switch to formula.  It turns out he had reflux.  I stopped eating dairy and he is a new baby!  She could just be cluster feeding, but the fussing and crying could make it more.  My son also seemed to be in pain. I would call your doctor just to be sure. Good Luck.
  • I'm right there with you. I was basically up literally all night with ds. I hope it gets better for us!
  • Been there!  HUGS.
