How many at a shower?

I know it's up to the host, but generally speaking, how many people should you invite? How many of those actually come?

I've only been to maybe 3 baby showers, and I can't recall (on average) how many people come. And to get that number, how many do you invite?

My hostesses are clueless on this and I'm trying to gather addresses. Any general input would be nice.?

    One shower (the one my mom is throwing) has grow to a guest list of about 65 people, of those we expect maybe 45-50 will actually come. And my StepMIL is hosting the one for DH's side and that one will have about 35 guests with probably 30 coming. It really does depend on where they plan to host it (a house, club house, banquet hall, etc.), the cost of food, and what they can afford.

    My first shower was about 12 people, DH's family. The second was 20 people, my side and a couple friends. Almost everyone invited came, maybe 6 or so didn't.

    This depends so much on how big your family is, who you want invited, etc. I kept mine to my mom, aunts/cousins/grandma's and have a fairly small family.

    We just had our baby shower on Saturday and over 100 adults and 20 kids came.  It was massive to say the least but we have a huge family.  :)

    i guess it all depends on where the baby shower is being held... my aunt is throwing mine at a restaurant..ive invited about 50 people but you have to figure that only 40 will come

    I had 2 showers. One was both families combined- I think close to 45 were invited and all but 14 came.  My other shower was coworkers and friends the guest list was 14 and 10 came.  I must say I enjoyed the small friend shower more than the large family one. The big one was just so busy and hectic, even though the hostess was great and well prepared.
