AW: Harris Teeter Score!

Spent $6.35, saved $48.52.  I had 20 items, so I had to stop.  I'll have to go back tomorrow to get a few more things.  About 10 items I tried to get were sold out, but I had 30-some coupons so with the max-20 rule, I had to come back another time anyways to get it all.  Maybe they'll restock??  =)

I may have rice until the end of time, BTW.  Hehe!

I could have walked out of there paying $0, but there were a few items that, with 3x coupons, were a great deal and worth paying a few bucks total!  =)  I'm on such a high from saving so much $$!  Am I a dork or what?

  • Dayam, I bet $50 in hamburger helper will last you till the end of time! ?Nice score!

And for the record, I know we all talk about there being lots of mac and cheese coupons....but so not the case. ?I have to pay full price for my mac and cheese, such is my lurve for it.?

  • Nice job!  I felt all giddy and excited after my savings and they weren't quite as great as yours!

  • Nuts, you beat me!!  I paid $12.71 and saved 47.31.  However, I think I was jipped b/c I don't think I received my $5 for buying 1 of the 15 items deal.  Did you happen to buy one of those products?  And if so, did you receipt show you received $5?

Great job!!!  You are awesome.  Maybe I should shop with you!!

  • w/o shoes:  I'm not sure what deal you're talking about - I didn't know about that.  Freebie-wise, I got lots of rice (3 types), a pizza, toothbrush, mustard, salad dressing, paper plates, plastic cups, corn meal, Grands biscuits, and a marinade packet.  Another good deal was a 2-lb. pack of ground meat for $1.99 - need to be an E-vic subscriber.

7miles - haha, no hamburger helper for me.  That stuff is SO good, I used to have it ALL the time as a kid (my mom was a chef, I tell ya!) but I try to stay away from it nowadays, b/c it really has no nutritional value - lol!

Just an FYI, I got several from the internet.  This blog helps with the coupon matchups and sometimes lists coupon links.  For example, this is where I found the Mahatma rice coupon!  =)

  • If you bought any 15 of the participating General Mills items, then you should receive $5 instantly.

Some of the items were...Totino's frozen pizza rolls, Pillsbury grands biscuits, Pillsbury cinnamon rolls, Betty Crocker Brownie mix or cookie mix, Nature Valley Granola bars, chex mix...

Would I look too stupid if I went back to HT and asked them about this??

  • I thought you had to buy several of those items, not just one.  I didn't pay much attention to it though.

I've had to double-check the receipt in the past and sometimes I just bought the wrong items, and sometimes teh store was wrong.

I'd call them and talk with the store manager.  I wonder if you had a coupon print out (you know how those coupons sometimes print at the register?) but the clerk didn't give it to you?  Either that, or maybe you thought you bought all of the items but really didn't - sometimes there are specific sizes that are part of the deal and they're not marked well.  Anyways, I'd totally call or stop by!  I shop for deals/sales, so if I factored that $5 into the price of the products and DIDN'T save the $5, then I'd be sad.  lol!

  • Awesome!
I just got back from round two, and my total was $64.86, and I spent $25.88. Definitely not a lot of free stuff this time (I got all of that yesterday), but 60% off is not too shabby! :-) I'll probably go back Sunday night if there are good coupons in the paper Sunday.

Do you know they have "Wholesome Helper"? DH LOVES the strogonoff, so this is my tradeoff for it. He only gets it like 1-2 times per year, but at least I can think it's a bit more healthy than the regular. :)
  • Hamburger Helper side note:

We make a super yummy healthy cheeseburger macaroni that I invented once when I was craving something carby and hamburger helper-y. I do use the cheese from a box of Kraft Mac & Cheese, but swap out the pasta for Barilla Plus, don't use any butter, and use 93% lean ground beef or turkey. I add sauteed onions and a can of diced tomatoes for some veggies. Yummy, yummy comfort food!
