CHICAGO GTG location is decided!

Ok ladies. I went through and looked at ALLLLL of the posts we've made over the past weeks and have decided to make an executive decision. Lincoln Park Zoo it is. After much debate it seems a location in the city was prefered by the out of towners, and since they're making the trek I think it's only appropriate to try and accomodate them. Also LPZ is free and in a park, so we have multiple activity options. I will bring some blankets/neat sheets that we can set up outside and let the little ones crawl around if we desire. There are also playgrounds that aren't too far. Parking is expensive, it will run you around $20, but thats the price we pay. Other places have expensive admission, so it basically cancels each other out. Shedd Aquarium will be our backup plan for bad weather, in which case I'll call and see if we can get a group rate. Hope this works for everyone. I've done the best I can trying to make everyone happy. Also ONE lucky nestie, who is willing to walk a mile, can have my parking spot for free and then walk over with me. What a deal! Hehe.

So - onto the next questions.

#1 - what time are we thinking? i was thinking sometime around lunchtime. noon or so. what you gals think?

#2 - just mommys & kiddos, or are we bringing dh's? i thought initially this was a ladies event, but we've had some inquiries as to if this was dh friendly. i could care less either way, so you ladies take to the floor to debate that one.

ok. i'm off to change a very stinky diaper. can't wait to see what everyone says!

Re: CHICAGO GTG location is decided!

  • 1 - doesn't matter.  my sister lives really close to the LPZ, so we can just hop over anytime.

2 - My DH will not be coming.

  • Loading the player...
  • Yay! I'm excited for the Zoo. I don't mind if dh's come. I know mine won't.

Maybe 1pm would be ok. That way I can feed the lo's lunch before we make the hour drive up to chicago.

    But, I'm up for whatever.

  • And how are you going to decide this ONE lucky nestie?

    1. I think around noon sounds great! That way DD will nap on the way there.

    2. My DH may come but do something else in the city. RadioKate and I talked about our DH's possibly doing something while we are at the GTG.

  • sigh, I wish we could still come!
  • 1. You are awesome :)

    2. You are awesome again :)

I have no preference on time and the DH thing. I certainly don't mind if a few DH's need to tag along.

  • I've been absent from these posts, because well, I live in hell, I mean Florida. But DH informed me he is really wanting to head to WI to visit family...so when is the GTG? Didn't know if maybe we could coincide them?

  • I will bring some blankets too. We also have a couple camping chairs I can bring.

The time doesn't matter because we are only 2 miles from LPZ. Besides, whatever time we chose, half of the LOs will be ready for a nap.

If DHs are allowed, mine will be there. He was the one that told me about the GTG.

Again, thanks Caroline for doing all this!

  • Thanks Caroline!! You RAWK. I think this is a great plan. Let me know if there is anything I can do to help. I will also bring blankets.
  • That sounds awesome! Time doesn't really matter to us either. Let me know if I can help with anything. I can bring some blankets too if needed!
    .
  • Thanks for all your work in organizing this!  12 noon works just fine and I have no opinion on whether or not DHs come.  Mine will not be attending.
  • Noon is good for me, because we have DH's high school reunion that night, so the earlier the better, so I can stay a little longer. :)

Like JessMil's post, our DHs can do something together (grab some lunch or whatever) so we can have some girl time, but I am all about people bringing their DH's if they want, that's fine by me! :)

  • Noon sounds good!

Um... what date is this again?  :)

  • Noon works well for us, DS can just nap on the way there. I can bring a pincic blanket that we have as well....are we planning on letting the kiddo's have lunch there, too? We have about an hour drive in, so I will have to feed him when we get there. Oh, and my DH probably won't come.

Thanks for organizing all of this - it will be so fun!

  • Any time is fine for me! I only live a 20-30 minute bus ride from LPZ, so no big deal on that.

My DH will not be coming. He will be working.

  • Noon is good to me :) DH will not be coming. He has to work.
  • Gah, can I stay on as a maybe? I want to try to get out of the bachelorette party. 2 bridal showers is enough!
  • I'm almost positive I can come now! We're flying out of Midway on Sunday, so we'll be heading up to the city on Friday night. I'm so excited now! IDK if DH will come with, let me know what the final word on that is :)
  • Wow!  Thank you so much for organizing this!!!  Noon sounds great.  My DH will probably at least come into the city with me because I don't feel comfortable doing the trip alone BUT he has told me many times that he only wants to tag along if other DHs are coming too.
