I did not use a single bib until they started solids at 6.5 months. The little sets that come with a bib, hat, onsie, pants, etc. -- the hat and bib were always useless to me.
Baby shoes -- mine have never worn shoes. They don't walk so I guess I don't get the point
Childhood cancer (DH) + chemo + radiation = 0 sperm.

Life is beautiful!
i wish i hadn't used a bib until 6.5 months! DS had reflux and was like a baby geyser for about 7 months - we have no less than 50 bibs and i still do laundry every other day.
i got this portfolio thingy that was supposed to hold a diaper and some wipes and nothing else. i still can't come up with a scenario in which i would only need 1 diaper and a couple wipes....
Newborn clothes and huge things of newborn diapers. He was in them for about a week... but he was also a 9 lb baby. Even the 0-3 months clothes weren't needed very long either.
Unexplained. IVF#2 worked! Beta at 10dp6dt = 154, Beta at 13dp6dt = 603
For me it was 10000s of birp cloths - too big to be useful but too small to be blankets. However, I did get some really small, bib shaped burp cloths this pg that are awesome. Fit in the diaper bag well and just work as an over the shoulder/wipe her mouth cloth.
Lots of burp clothes. I have used a few for drool but there are some I have never even used. Also the 15 baby blankets I have. I can use 2 or 3 but not 15!!
Everyone wanted to make us a blanket - and they're all piled in the closet with all her receiving blankets. Honestly the only ones I use are the Aden & Anais blankets and maybe a couple other ones she's gotten that are embroidered with her name and birthdate.
Also, the Surf Board Tummytime thingy - can't remember the real name - was a waste. I just gave it away. You can use one of your many blankets to roll up under LO.
And, everyone wanted to buy bigger clothes because they assumed we'd get all newborn and 0-3 so it turned out we didn't get that much smaller clothes and I have some much 6-12 she'll never wear them all.
The 15-20 receiving blankets that we have. 5 would have been great. I also packed away about 50 (no lie) onesies in newborn or 0-3 month size that Ava never wore. Of course I was a complete idiot and washed them all when I was pg, so they couldn't be returned. Dummy.
I agree with PP about excessive amounts of newborn sized clothes. DS fit into newborn sizes for only about two weeks if that. He is currently wearing three month size at 8 weeks.

Too funny! Just proves that one person's trash is another person's treasure. We go through about 5 bibs and burp cloths a day! He is constantly spitting up! And we used all the sleep training books that we got - and even bought more! I would agree that too many newborn outfits and diapers were a waste!
I LOVE my burp clothes! I use cloth diapers and would be lost without them! However, I have no use for the Boppy. Maybe used it once or twice to prop up DS to almost be sitting... I never used it one time to feed him (I ended up FF.. maybe it would have been useful if BF?). I even got an extra cover for it. It was a complete waste for me.. but I know others love it!
humm.. I would say the formula mixer and travel dispenser, dishwasher baskets (I hand wash everything every night from that day), Bumbo seat, sleeper bags that were open on the bottom (my babies were winter babies and it was far to cold to leave their feet with nothing on and socks hardly stay on at that age), bath robes... I feel like I have more stuff I didn't use.
I too.. use a TON of bibs and burp cloths. Holy moly

Wow -- ditto every word of this! I think we used our bumbo exactly twice. And I put her in her cute little bathrobe once and took pictures.

So true!!! I never wanted to put the bib on anyway since it would cover the cute outfit
And my SIL buys DD shoes ALL THE TIME...and she doesn't wear them. They don't fit right and what's the point.
I agree with the blankets and bath robes. They are adorable, but I got 3 different bath robes that I never even put him in. And we got about 20 blankets, the majority of which just sat in his bureau. Even with a second baby on the way I had to pack up a bunch of blankets that we wont be needing.
This frilly WHITE calvin klein sun dress. It is cute, but where is DD going to wear that thing? I wish I hadn't cut the tags and washed it, so I could return it for the $$ and buy 5 things she would wear! LOL!
Blankets! We have about 15 (most hand made) and we use 2-3. Stuffed animals. People bought us so many because the "matched" an outfit that they bought. They are cute but to me they are dust collectors and I hate having more than a few in her room.

Oh yes...onsies!!!! We have sooooo many in all different sizes and DD barely wore them. I'm actually just not a fan of the onsie at all. I'd rather put her in a bottom and top. And I really wanted the Bumbo but she used it a handful of times.
OH and on the boppy/BF front - I'd not ask for too many thing until you know for sure you'll be BFing successfully. We had a Bobby, a My Breast Friend, BF cover for when you're in public, hand pump, electric pump, BM storage trays, etc that all are either in a closet or sold on Craig's List because BFing did not work out for us.
Lots of burp clothes. I have used a few for drool but there are some I have never even used. Also the 15 baby blankets I have. I can use 2 or 3 but not 15!!
we actually used soooooo many burp clothes it was ridiculous, but we had terrible reflux..i now use them for snot rags..and even for dust rags for cleaning! i would say those were the most useful for us! haha
ummm..we used the bumbo seat only a couple of times..by the time they could sit up, ronnie's legs were too fat for it, haha
although it was really sweet, all of the quilts people made us..some we will treasure forever, others..like ones made by people that aren't really a big part of our lives, will probably be thrown in a closet
its funny though..we were given some things at the shower, like random toys and stuff, that i thought the boys had no interest in at all, but later down the road they loved..so things change too.

LOVE my SAIF ladies My Blog!
I also used all of my burp cloths and bibs - my DS is a huge spitter (but I didn't get too many of them, I actually had to go buy more when he arrived). I also have used my boppy alot, and still use it when he is practicing sitting so when he arches his back and falls backward, he lands on the boppy.
But I totally agree with the thousands of blankets. We didn't get many before the baby was born, but after, everyone gave us one. We have two with his name and birthdate on it, and a bunch of others. I only really used the Aden and Anais blankets, and the Miracle blanket. All of the others would come in the car or stroller with us when it was cold...we would take turns so I didn't feel badly about not using someone's blanket!
And also too many stuffed animals - maybe when he gets bigger he will like them, but right now they are just dust collectors on his shelf.
Too funny! Just proves that one person's trash is another person's treasure. We go through about 5 bibs and burp cloths a day! He is constantly spitting up! amen sista! we used a ton of burp cloths AND bibs. our sleep training book rules! we have an awesome sleeper who has been STTN for months.
baby bathrobes? dopey. seriously dopey. we got 2 of them and they went straight to goodwill.

i have to say we love all 20+ of our blankets. We use at least one a day. Sure my faves are the Aden & Anais ones but we use them all. To cover DD in the a/c, to sheild the carseat, protect the couch, on top of a waterproof pad so she can have a little naked time. We could get by with fewer but its nice IMO to have as many as we do.
And socks -- two words, preemie socks. Those stay on.
Least useful item for us? That musical bear for the crib. We bed share so we dont even use the crib and that bear is monotonous. We prefer music/lullabies from the ipod.

this is to funny. I use blankets ALL THE TIME. non stop. I use them to prop bottles all the time, plus when they are in a stroller or the car seats in air conditioning or to shield their legs from the sun. and they each get a crocheted blanket with big holes to sleep with. my favorite ones are the waffle weave gerber ones.
Wow! Patrick had terrible reflux so we used all of our bibs, receiveing blankets and anything that resembled cloth that could be used to clean up puke. I actually had to go out and buy more bibs for cheap on CL because I was tired of doing laundry every other day because we ran out of bibs and burp cloths and recieving blankets. I guess you just don't know what you need until that kid is out and doing their own thing. My niece doesn't puke AT ALL and therefore my SIL NEVER uses bibs or burp cloths or anything like that.
I also used my boppy daily for months and I loved it--my SIL NEVER uses her boppy.
Patrick hardly ever wears onesies, so those were almost a waste and the bumbo he hated...but I am keeping it because maybe the next baby will like it.

I use tons of burp cloths too. also lots of blankets to prop up bottles.Just started using bibs at 5.5 months, the newborn small ones were worthless though.
Car seat cover thingys (can't remember the name) totally useless.
I couldn't have lived without boppy pillows and bouncy seats.
Oh and IMO, buying expensive bedding set was a TOTAL waste of money! I wish I would have spent money on something else because the cute bumpers were in the crib for about 2 weeks. The bumper was a big part of the decor of their room and now its gone....wish I would have bought a cuter crib skirt and sheets instead.
The most useless thing we received was a baby wipe warmer. My baby girl also received a bunch of frilly formal like sundresses siz 0-3. She never wears them as we have her in onesies and pants or t-shirts and pants or pjs/nightgowns. I also received a fhandful of picture frames and a sterling silver rattle that are not very useful.
Regarding bibs and burp cloths, I have a reflux baby who spits up all the time. I do laundry every day and go through so many bibs and burp cloths -- it's crazy! I also love the nightgowns that have elastic and are open at the bottom. It makes nighttime diaper changes easy!
