Babies: 9 - 12 Months

So DH just talked to our landlord.

Our landlord says that he has no idea what is going on.  He says he has paid the mortgage every month.  The landlord says he thinks another bank is involved.  ???  I have no idea what the hell that means.  Ugh.

I WANT TO SCREAM.

  • It has happened before - the cops knock on the wrong door! Paperwork may have gotten mixed up. Good luck!

  • Another bank is involved? I don't get that.

Sounds to me like he is either lying or he is getting screwed himself. What a clusterfvck. I'm sorry girl.

  • There is usually a way to see if a lien has been filed against the property online, through the county (or other entitiy)'s website.  They have to file for "eviction/foreclosure" proceedings, so you should be able to see if that has been done.

It is a good market to be a landlord right now, because people are having such a hard time qualifying

Exactly. Try to do a property search on your county's website. You should be able to bring up your parcel, and it you will also be able to see if he owes unpaid property taxes.

  • call your county clerks office or land records office and find out what is going on!

  • It could be taxes or a second mortgage on the house. I agree, go to the registry of deeds on line and search for your address.  You should be able to see all liens on the property.  GL.

Stupid bump throw up.  It won't even let me edit.

What I was saying was that since people are having such a hard time qualifying for mortgages and also the high rate of forclosure.  It might be a good idea to start looking at area apartments just so you have a back up plan.  You can always do a shorter term lease (6 months) until you find a better rental house or get to a point to purchase your own home.  I know it is a lot, moving with the girls, and not knowing what is going to happen, but you have a better chance of things running smoothly in an apartment complex than a private landlord.  (No offense to anyone who is a private LL, as I am both a private one and used to be an apartment complex mananger!!)

If there is anything I can do to help you in your search, let me know.  I used to advertise on rent.com, apartments.com, forrent.com, etc.  You can find houses on those sites too.

    Good luck!!
