Michigan Babies

Introduce yourself

edited July 2021 in Michigan Babies

Hi, I'm 28, and I just found out that I'm pregnant!

? I'm 6 weeks and 3 days today
? This is our first pregnancy
? My husband is thrilled, scared but thrilled. I'm really happy! Scared of the unknown, but happy
? I quit my job last month, so I'm in between health insurance currently.
? Breast and extreme nipple sensitivity were my first indication that something was "up"
? I was ten days late before I took my first pregnancy test
? I have Vulvodynia, Interstitial Cystitis, Endometriosis, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, and Adenomyosis. Oh, and high cholesterol to boot. yeesh.
? At the height of my medical explosion a few months ago, I was on seven nasty medications, now I'm just on one, prenatal vitamins. :-)
? I'm a vegetarian
? We only "tried" for five days, and it looks like we were successful
? I was taking Cymbalta for depression up until the day I found out... I didn't think this was going to happen so soon. So I'm having terrible withdrawal symptoms... I'm on day six of no meds. I can't tell yet
whether what I'm feeling is pregnancy or withdrawal. Blech.
? My parents live in California! My mother-in-law might be able to help with childcare later, but our support net now is little, and thin! Composed mainly of friends in other states with babies or are currently pregnant.

I'm looking forward to seeing my little then "blueberry" on our first visit to our new doctor later this month!

  • Hi Readymomma,

Thanks for the response earlier.  I am also 7 weeks today!  We have the same due date. It looks like we have a lot in common, as it is my Husband and my first pregnancy as well. And it happened the first time we tried.  I found out that I was pregnant 9 days after my missed period.  I had 2 prior false positives, but I just knew that I was pregnant.

Have you had any morning sickness?  I have not, maybe because neither my mother nor grandmother had any.  So, I am lucky so far.  I also have very high cholesterol too. Which is strange because I eat so healthy all of the time.  I love to cook and rarely buy anything processed. (food that is) I am a whole food eater I guess.

My parents also live in a different state. Which I am sure will be tough, but at least I can be home with the little one and focus my efforts on her or him.

Well, congratulations to you and your little blueberry!  :o)  It is an exciting time.  I am enjoying every minute of having this little life inside of me.  Keep us posted of how you are feeling and anything interesting along the way.  I will do the same. Take care Readymomma.

  • Welcome readymomma and rachel!!!  Congrats on the pregnancies Big Smile

  • Hello ladies! This board is hit or miss but the GRNest board is an awesome place to hang out. If you plan on sticking around here us mommies and the few girls who are pregnant will drop by here more often. We've been trying to get this board going but it just hasn't happened. Congrats on your pregnancies!

  • Hi!

I am from the Kzoo area, am 29 and am also pregnant for the first time.  I am currently in my 20th week.  We only "tried" for two months before getting pregnant, so it was exciting and scary at the same time!

Both my husband and I work full time and I am planning on going back to work once the baby is here, even though I wish I could stay home with him/her.  Our families are both on the east side of the state, so we also have little support with childcare.

We are finding out next week if we are having a boy or a girl and we are really excited!!

I plan on checking back when I can to the GR board, its nice to chat with others locally!

  • Congrats!

I am so happy to see a Grand Rapids board on here. I have been trying to find one for awhile now........it will be nice to have some other ladies in the area to relate to!

I am 6 weeks 1 day along and thrilled. My DH and I had been trying for about 5 almost 6 months before getting that BFP :-)

I am also a vegetarian :-D and have also managed to get myself off all meds besides that much needed prenatal of course!

  • Hi Everyone!

Its nice to see people on the GR board.  I never check it bc no one is on!  I'm 24 with a 12 weeker!

  • Hiya everybody! I was a GR knottie, then GR nestie and now I have graduated to thebump!! We are nearly 8 weeks along now and very excited. I have had some spotting which is hard not to worry about, but I am trying really hard not to. We actually live in the UP right now, but are hoping to get back to GR within the next year to be closer to our supports.

Sticky dust to all of us!

  • Hi,  I have a 4 1/2 month old named Tillie.  I live in Wyoming.  I'm pretty much a stay at home mom, but I work at J. Crew a few times a month.
  • Hi everyone! So I'm a little late but I thought I'd introduce myself. I live in Spring Lake, I'm 23 and expecting my first. I will be 17 wks tomorrow. I think its great we have a board but it would be nice if it weren't so dead! I would love to chat with others from our area about our experiences. :)

Hi i'm Izzi!! I am 20 years old and I'm 5wks2days. Found out YESTERDAY!!! YAY!! I am super oober happy about it, my husband is a little shocked but he's happy. I have a 3 year old little boy who insists on having a dora baby, that's his way of saying he wants a girl lol. I plan on going to Gerber Memorial, my sister and inlaws had their baby's there and it's the closest hospital lol. I don't want a 45 minute drive to muskegon while in labor lol. I'd love to chat with some west michigan mommies, i'm the only pregnant one of all my friends, and they don't wanna talk about babies all the time. Chat me up some time, I'm always on. ^_^

Hi Izzi! I'm so glad you posted on here too. I also would love to chat with local moms. Congrats on your second! I am on here a lot as I had to quit my job due to a few pregnancy complications. Is Gerber Memorial in Fremont?

  • Hey all!

I'm 29 and my DH and I just started TTC. We're hoping (like everyone else) that it happens fast, so I've decided not to start charting until we've been trying for a few months with no luck. This will be our first child, so we're very excited.

It's so nice to see that there's a board for the GR area. Hopefully we can get/keep it going so we can support each other.

  • Hi Readymomma!

Congrats on your preganancy! I have an almost 6 month old little girl. I am also a vegetarian! Good luck to you and your little blueberry! :)

  • Hi everyone! I'm Melissa from Jenison. I'm about 6 weeks pregnant now and it's my husband and my first. We're very excited! My sister-in-law is due in December, so it'll be fun to have babies 6 months apart. We're hoping they'll be best friends!

It's great to be able to get on The Bump and talk to people about the pregnancy, since right now we're only 6 weeks along we haven't really told anyone beyond immediate family and best friends.

BTW...how do you actually get your "ticker" to show up in these posts? I haven't been able to figure it out!

  • Ok, obviously I figured out now how to get the ticker in the signature Smile
