Hooray! I'm firing my OB!

DH and I have been trying to find alternative care instead of our OB for a while now, and we just got back from a consultation with one of three midwives at North Metro Midwives. I have to say, I didn't realize how stressed I was over my OB because now we're going to be switching our care to the midwives and I instantly felt a sense of relief! They're in agreement with our philosophy of birth than the OB was!

I'm SO RELIEVED! I can't express how happy I am now! AND, a bigger plus, they're covered 100% by my insurance!!!

Thanks for listening to my expression of happiness! Party!!!

  • Good for you:)  I had to fire mine at 20 weeks because I hated her and then I found one I loved.  I wanted a MW but I became too high risk:(

  • Jessie,

So glad to hear that things are falling in to place for you!!  I know the sense of relieve you are talking about....I changed midwives as well and feel great about my decision.

If it hasn't been said it was nice to see you girls on August 1st. I had a very nice time.

  • That's great! It's so nice to have a provider you feel comfortable with. I see the midwives at Generations Women's Health and love it there. With me getting laid off, I was worried DH's insurance wouldn't have them listed as a preferred provider but I just found out today that they are and I can continue going there. So happy!

  • Good for you!  I SOOOO wish that I had fired my OB when I was pg with DD1.  I didn't know any better but I KNEW that she was crap.  I should have followed my gut and found a new clinic and dr.  Seriously, from the very first appt there something was messed up EVERY SINGLE APPT!  I absolutely LOVE the clinic I go to now and the dr I saw with DD2 and am now seeing with DD3.  SO important to be happy with your provider!
  • Congrats to you. We had trouble finding an OB at first, once we found ours we both fell in love and both enjoy going to doctors appointments, we are never nervous or worried.
  • That's great!  So where will you deliver?

North Memorial, actually! Going off of your shared experience and that of a co-workers! Also the midwives that we switched to practice there with OBs, so we feel very secure! Our first appointment is next Tuesday!

Thanks, Tara! Glad to hear I'm not the only one who has switched care mid-way through their pregnancy and have been more happy with this decision than anything!

And the 1st was a grand time! Still trying to get a Twins game going! ;)

  • I actually just switched OBs also!  I just wasn't happy with my OB and had been debating switching for 10 weeks.  I felt like it was just too far along to switch, but I never was happy and it just kept making me feel worse.  I will be delivering at Ridgeview in Waconia now, instead of the hospital 1 mile from my house, but that's OK.  What's a 20 minute drive when you're in labor for hours?  Smile  My first appt with the new OB is on Monday.

BTW - I enjoyed meeting you all on Aug 1st also and would still be on for a Twin's game!

  • I love Kathrine at North Metro. She delivered my first three kids and I am going to use them again for my fourth!! I have not met the other two midwives because Kathrine was the only midwife when I had my other children. I love going to my appointments and look forward to another delivery with North Metro in 35 weeks! I also liked the care I recieved at North Memorial Hospital. I hope you have a great experience with them too!
