When are you "x"ing the Paci?

DH would have liked it gone by 3 months, but theres no way that would have happened. Is there a time when its "supposed" to be gone by?

We told ourselves we would get rid of it with Gabe when he got his first tooth - that was at 13months. The day he got it we went cold turkey.

We are doing the same with David. No teeth so far.

I was set on getting rid of it at one year....but that has come and gone. I try to keep it just a "crib" item and only let her have it when she goes to bed/naps. I'll take it away when she is old enough to understand. maybe have the "paci fairy" come....or have it get "lost"....

It's a pacifier...if that's the worst habit of hers then i'm lucky

I heard that it is best to have it gone by around 1 year. After that they start to form an attachment to it. DH and I just started this week to use it only in the case of a meltdown (which hasn't happened yet and we're on day 3 of no paci) and at bed time (since she falls asleep right away and then it falls out anyway).

Ditto. Probably at a year I will limit it to crib time. Right now she only seems happy when she has something in her mouth so I try to limit it but it's not always worth the aggravation. I think it makes her gums feel better with teething.

I honestly probably won't get rid of it all together until she can understand better. I read one suggestion where you bury them in the backyard with the LO and put some seeds in to grow flowers- like a paci tree or something. I might do that.

LOL i know right? Def a toddler thing I guess. My dumbass will probably be out there doing that. At least she hopefully won't want it back after all that!! Dead pacis are buried, sorry honey. LOL

I was going to shoot for 1 year. But with the new baby coming so soon after that, I feel like that might be too much trauma all at once

It's been a "crib only" thing since 5m, so I'm not too worried about it. Maybe around 18m, after he's adjusted some to being a big brother.

Our plan was to drop it by 1 year. DS dropped it on his own around 4 months.

Already gone. We started trying to put him to sleep without it around 6 months, and then he just stopped using it. I've tried giving it to him when he was upset and he could care less.
