2nd Trimester

Is it just me?

Everyone and every book I read says the fatigue from the first trimester is supposed to subside as you get further into the second trimester. And this was true in my first pregnancy, but I'm 16 weeks and as tired as ever!!! I know every case is different, so I was wondering is this happening to anyone else? Or if it did happen to you, what did you do to help?

I'm tired all day and can't sleep at night. I tried the showers and baths before bed, can't drink milk (so I won't go near warm milk), tried herbal teas and NOTHING! HELP!!!

Re: Is it just me?

  • I'm still tired and I'm 25 weeks. I dont know when it will subside!

  • I never got more energy. I am constantly tired, but for the most part can work through it. The headaches in 2nd tri are what have gotten me!
  •  I am still getting sooo tired!! Once I get in nap mode I am in a coma for at least an hour.  I wish it would go away.
  • I'm still exhausted.  I have trouble falling asleep at night (even though I've about given up all caffeine) and then feel like a horrible mom because I'm falling asleep on my feet all day with DS.  It doesn't help that I'm working in the evenings, either.

And the headaches...I didn't get them last time and they SUCK.

  • I had about 4-5 days where I got the nesting bug and really had energy. Then the energy subsided and I still felt the urge to nest, causing anxiety. Fun fun fun.
  • I'm the same way. But, I will say that there is a lot going on right now for us so that could be making me tired.

  • Ugh! I could have written this post! I had so much more energy in the 2nd tri with my 1st pregnancy but this time I have no energy. I noticed my head seemed to come out of the fog a little when I hit 2nd tri, but physically I am such a tired wreck. And I haven't been sleeping well AT ALL this whole pregnancy so far...everyone tells me I'm more exhausted because I'm chasing a toddler all day but I really don't think it's necessarily more exhausting than working 8 hours a day (that I was doing in my 1st pregnancy). I really hope it gets better soon!

  • I think you can just chalk it up to "everyone is different." Morning sickness is also supposed to subside in the second tri. For me, that's when it got worse and it hasn't started to let up. AT.ALL.

I am still exhausted, nauseous and puking. I think I'm doomed.

Try taking unisom. It's safe in pregnancy and is often suggested for morning sickness. On those nights when I just can't sleep because I'm feeling bad and focusing on that, I just give in and take a unisom.

  • So sorry to hear there is alot going on with you. Sad We have a lot going on too which isn't helping. I hope we make it out of this with a healthy baby!
  • At least you have an excuse (chasing a toddler), my DS is seven and at school. I don't no more than 5 hour shifts (I have to admit I have an awesome boss), but I am still so tired! We'll get through it!
