Anyone else have a sweaty child?

Sabrina has always been on the sweatier side but I thought she'd outgrow it. Her head gets sweaty really easily. Like a little "running" (crawling) around and the child's head is sweaty. It's often damp when she sleeps, too.

I'm going to ask her pedi about this at her 1 year appt in a couple weeks but is this common? Anyone else have a sweaty child?

It's not that she's dressed warm or the house is too warm (our outrageous PG&E bill is proof that we run the a/c way too much) or even that she's wearing the wrong fabrics. I don't think it's environmental at all.

Re: Anyone else have a sweaty child?

  • I have a really sweaty child - but I never thought that anything might be wrong with her....so plz check in after your appointment and tell us what your ped said. Izzie doesn't have a lot of hair, so when she sweats, her whole head looks drenched - and she's stinky too... :)

  • Lainie is super sweaty, especially when she sleeps.  I have had to change her sheets several times because they are soaked with sweat.  Sometimes it is just that it is so hot here in Sac, but I have wondered if there is something else going on.

Please let us know what your pedi says - I am pretty sure it is "normal" but it would be nice to hear that confirmed by the doc.

Oona too....  she gets sweaty easily as well but I never really thought it might be something to worry about. But yea, please do let us know what they say about it. Maybe part of the reason why I did not worry about it so much is b/c DH is a sweaty child too (uh, I mean sweaty guy too).  ;-) He gets really sweaty easily. I'm the total opposite.

  • Emmalee is a very hot natured child. She gets it from her daddy, plus she has a lot more insulation than her mommy. It just happens. I have learned not to put pants on her for school because she gets really hot when she naps. I mainly just dress her in dresses, or if an outfit is 2 pieces with pants, I usually will let her wear the top alone or replace the pants with bloomers. I know E is younger than Sabrina, but Sabrina may still have some of her baby fat that is keeping her warm too.
  • My son just STAYS HOT!  No blankets at night, light clothing during the day.  We've nicknamed him Monsieur Hot Stuff, LOL.
  • Jenna sweats buckets. Whenever she eats (milk) she sweats through her hair and my clothes. At naptime we have to strip her down because she just sweats. I've never been concerned about it.
  • G is a sweaty sleeper...just like his dad. Since Ben sweats i've never worried about it.

  • Ryan is sweaty too.  I now keep his hair SHORT because I hate to see his soaked head when he's playing with his friends.  It grosses me out!
Nobody said life would be easy, they just promised it would be worth it.

  • Nick is sweaty too.  Gives him some NICE bedhead, cracks me up.  I've never been concerned - but will be curious as to what your Pedi says!!
  • Whoops -I didn't mean to concern anyone! I'm sure it's nothing, I just happen to be utterly and completely neurotic. I usually have it under control, lol.

  • I've got a sweaty child too but I have a sweaty husband so I think that it is just genetics. They are usually sweating at the same time. I don't think that there is anything wrong with her though.

Here's a funny side note: When I was pregnant with her, I was hot all the time. I just think she is a hot body!

  • My son sweats likes nobody's business!  As do his father and I.  I was also concerned and asked at his 9 month appointment.  The pedi said it's completely normal!  Especially given his parents "perspiration" traits :)
  • I have a sweaty family! Seriously! In highh school I took a friend on our family vaca and she was sweaty an d said "whoa I am sweatin like a Scharrenberg" (my maiden name)

I have one nephew in particular that is super sweaty too..

My only advice since she is a girl is maybe no bangs I hated the way I looked with sweaty bangs as a kid and was self conscience about it

  • Tyson is sweaty. And hairy. All the makings of the "stinky kid". I am convinced that I'll have the only preschooler wearing deodorant. I fear what my house is going to smell like in a few years with two boys.
