Well it has become apparent that Puddin' likes to hide/run away. I had my 1st appointment yesterday morning, and it was fantastic. Though nobody warned me that you have to get a finger in your butt (thanks for the heads up world). Fortunately, my doctor has small hands.
We were only supposed to hear the heartbeat, but something the doctor heard made her go get the ultrasound machine. She said for a minute there she thought I might have been carrying twins. There was only one VERY active baby on the screen but that was enough. Every time the doctor would get a good position with the u/s machine so we could get a picture, Puddin' would flip and swim out of the way. The baby even punched at my ute with a closed fist! I told my husband that this was definitely his baby, already being bad.
The best picture we got is in my signature. The doctor put DH in charge of the print button which is the other reason we didn't get a good picture. He was so in awe the he stood there blocking most of the screen. I didn't mind since that is the only ultrasound he'll be here for.
The past few times I've used my doppler, the baby pretty much tries to evade it so I have to keep readjusting the probe to hear the hearbeat. You can clearly hear him or her moving around too! I'm hoping the baby stays this active so that he or she will (hopefully) tucker out before delivery.
Re: 1st Appointment (Long-ish)
Well that is lame! It was a measurement she said she had to do, but maybe it has something to do with my narrow vaginal vault. It really wasn't that bad I was just unprepared. Though she warned me before she did it of course.
The good news is that even though I have hip dysplasia and a narrow vaginal vault, she still thinks I have a good chance of a vaginal delivery as long as the baby doesn't get too big. Also, I may get to go back to physical therapy later on in the pregnancy if my hips start giving me too many problems.
My mom found out when I was 2, but at first the doctors said I would probably grow out of it. Then when I was 8 they decided that I did need corrective surgery, but I would have been in a half body cast for a year then learning to walk again for another year. My mom opted not to get the surgery done because of my age.
