Pregnant after 35

If you don't know whether it's a boy or a girl,

what do you think you're having? I read an article that says that mom's intuition is right about 73% of the time, so the odds are in your favor.

So, what's your guess?

My gut is saying boy, but last time I thought girl until 12 weeks when I became convinced it was a boy (I have a ds), so it could change.

Oh, and if you've already found out, was your intuition right? I'm curious about that 73%..

Re: If you don't know whether it's a boy or a girl,

  • I had a feeling from the beginning that I was having a boy and at my 20 week u/s it was confirmed.

Though now that I'm close to delivery, I keep having these dreams that the u/s was wrong and it's a girl. But there was no mistaking my baby's "boy parts" so I think it's just nerves.

  • i felt from the minute I got pregnant that it was a boy and sure enough at my amnio..a BOY!
  • We kind of refer to the kid as "he"... so that means it's probaby a girl.  I think I read somewhere that the older you get, the odds also shift slightly toward girls rather than boys.

But we're not going to find out ahead of theim, either!  Gotta have a few surprises in this world!

  • I thought for sure I was having a boy. Had a girl, which was a really nice surprise. It didn't matter, just wanted a surprise & a healthy baby. Got both.

  • I think boy and everyone I know has said the same. We didn't find out at the u/s. I bet we have a girl LOL!

  • I knew in my heart this was a girl....but he is all boy!!!

  • Everything about the PG is 180 different from my last so i am determined that it's a boy. Only a man could give me such grief!!! Wink

  • With DD, I felt she was a girl from the beginning and I was right.  With this pregnancy, I am really thinking boy and we hope to find out if I am right or wrong at our big u/s in a week!  That 73% is interesting.  I've had lots of friends say they believed they were having one sex only to be shocked to learn they were wrong so I'm not holding my breath on being rightSmile
  • Even though DH and our families wanted a girl, my gut told me it was a boy and I was right! Although like Robyn, I've been thinking what if the u/s was wrong? I haven't had another one. If it's a girl we'll be equally happy but then I have to redecorate the nursery. What a pain that would be. We shall see!

  • I thought I was going to have a girl when I had DS.  For some reason when I thought of being a parent though I always imagined myself having a son.  Maybe I was trying to prepare myself for having a girl since it's not something I ever really imagined.  All my family and friends kept guessing girl and all the crazy old wives tales pointed to girl.  Then just about the week before I had my son, I ran into 4 people I hadn't seen during my entire pregnancy and they all emphatically told me I was having a boy.

  • At around 7 weeks I got this feeling I was having a girl and continued to have that feeling until my 20 week sonogram when I learned I was having a BOY!

  • When I first found out I was PG I was sure it was a girl.  In the past couple of days though I have been swinging towards boy.  It will be interesting to find out.
  • I had a feeling I was having a girl. I was right!
  • I'm convinced I'm having a boy, I'll be shocked in I'm wrong. Big US in a month.

  • We had a BUNCH of people predicting a boy for us, just by looking at how I was carrying, etc.  So we started thinking towards a boy...but our big US said it's a girl.  We've been kinda nervous that it could be wrong too - but I looked up some girl u/s on the internet to see what they shoudl look like - and she definitely looks like a girl!  Plus, the peri came in after the big US to verify the sex after the tech told us it was a girl.

  • I think we are having a girl.  I am probably wrong! :)  I have 2 boys so a girl would be nice this time.  DH's family isn't known for having girls though. :)  This pregnancy is completely different from my others in the way I've been feeling.  It could be because I'm 10 years older though. ;)

I will be perfectly happy with another boy though.  A healthy baby is my main concern.

  • I definitely do not have the mother intuition... I have no idea what the baby is.  My husband on the other hand knew we were having a boy with our 2nd (we found out with our 1st) & is positive this one is going to be a girl.  Honestly, don't care just want a healthy baby.. another little guy would be fun & a little girl would be quite a treat too.. since this is our last ; (

  • I think it is going to be a girl, which means it will probably be a boy.

  • We don't know. Our big u/s is on the 31st and we are still discussing if we will find out.  I want to know without a doubt.  DH wants to know but doesn't want to want to know (if that makes sense) and is struggling with it.  He will ultimately make the final decision because I feel if one does not want to know the other should not spoil it for them but I really, really hope he comes around.  :)

Anyway, I feel that it's a boy.  I don't know if that is because we have two girls already but that is what I imagine the baby is when I think about him.
