Trying to Get Pregnant

Freaking out...

My mind is racing, and I can't stop wondering what the hell is going on with my period. I was so sure that I was back to normal now and that we'd just keep trying til the end of the year, but now I am having doubts. I didn't want to resort to drugs, but I am starting to think I may need the help. Why can't my body just do what it's supposed to?

Re: Freaking out...

  • My body never works when its suppose to. i went without periods for months. I had to go on birth control to regulate it.

Sometimes I think we do need a little help from drugs to jumpstart our bodies.

Why dont you want to use drugs?

  • I must have ovulated late, if I did at all. I'm at like cd39 or 40 and no AF. I have never gotten past cd31 and normally I wouldn't care, but with all the wacky cycle bs I have been through, this is really upsetting me. I have never wanted my period more. I don't want to have to go back to the doctor.
  • Im sorry ABC. Maybe you did ovulate later? I know you dont want to go back to the doctor but did you call them yet just to see what they think?

  • Sin, I have never liked drugs. I rarely even take Tylenol. I guess its cause my dad always taught me that there is a more natural way to solve things. We didn't get cold medicine, we got oranges and fresh air. When I had a headache, I took a nap or a warm bath. I also don't like having something running through my body that I can't control.
  • Sorry, ABC!

  • The doctor situation is tricky. She put me on the Met, and told me to call her if my cycle got wacky, but I stopped the Met. I don't really want to go back to her and explain why, but I don't want to have to start all over with a new one. I think I just want to get on Clomid or whatever will get me normal and get KU already. I've been at this all too long to start some long crazy process. It's time.

I don't know your whole story...

but - why don't you chart?  It solves some of the mystery...

No, not when you have irregular cycles it doesn't. The last cycle I charted I had two periods in four weeks. I am done.
  • Sounds like the best option is to go back to the same doc and just be honest that you wanted to try without the met for a while.  Get her opinion.  If she suggests going back on met only, ask how long she'll want you to follow that protocol.  I know charting's not for everyone, but it can't hurt, right?  GL!
  • Aww, you just sound frustrated in general. :( Sorry.

I'm sorry abc. Drugs are a big step especially if you do not like taking otc medication. I wish you all the luck in the world when you go back to the doctor. Maybe you could explain to her your fear (for lack of better term)/reluctance when it comes to taking them?

Again. Good luck and keep us posted.

  • It sounds like you are conflicted about what to do in an extremely frustrating situation. I wish you the best.

  •

yeah you sound like the biggest ignorant newb right now. But since you're a "regular" everyone keeps playing nice.  If you don't chart you don't know when you are late. Oh wait, your speshul and your periods are ALWAYS predictable...

Hmm......and you don't like ABC either. Wow, the lamest mystery ever on GP continues....

Sorry your going through this ABC. I totally feel you on the drug thing. I don't take anything either. With 25 cycles (all natural or homeopathic and 1 drug free IUI) I have finally made an appt with RE to discuss Clomid. I really don't want to but considering my age I don't want to think "what if" in the future. I wish you the best of luck......naturally!

Sorry, kind of jumping in on this a little late.  ABC, I'm assuming the DR put you on Met due to PCOS or insulin resistance.  Since you're not really wanting to do the Met, have you thought about trying a low-carb diet instead.  Southbeach is one that I find relatively easy to follow.  They also have diets like nutrisystem that follow the glycemic index that might help.

GL, I hope you can figure out a plan you're comfortable with.

  • 1.Charting doesn't solve everything and isn't for everyone.

    2. ABC, I'm so sorry you're going through all this, and are "freaking out" today.  I have to agree w/Mrs.Bro.  Maybe just be really honest with the doc, so you don't have to start from scratch.

Also, I can't remember if you've talked about this before, but how would you feel about alternative therapies that don't require the use of traditional medicines?  Is this something that you would be willing to pay out of pocket for?

I really wish you all the best.
