anyone know of any prenatal vitamins that you don't have to swallow. i went to rite aid and didn't see anything. i've seen some online, but i don't know if i should trust them. any experiences?
no idea but I'm curious to see the responses. I actually asked my OB about this yesterday since I've been having trouble swallowing my huge vitamins. He told me just to crush them. I have read on here somewhere that you can take 2 flintstone vitamins. I'm going to compare the vitamins/minerals with my prenatal vitamin next time I'm in the pharmacy
I take 2 Flintstones vitamins, but my OB recommended I supplement it with calcium and folic acid (2 Flintstones = 800mcg FA, he wants at least 1200mcg). So, I now take 2 Flintstones, 1 1000IU Vit D, 2 600 Calciums, and 1 400mcg FA.
Probably easier to take a Prenatal.. but I already had this big ole bottle of Flinstones, and it reminds me to give the kids their vitamins.. so it works for me.
my doc actually gave me samples of different types to last me a few months. I have a blue one that is chewable, but i dont know the name right off the bat... when i get home i will post what it is....
Im on a prescription chewable because i was told to do the Flintstone 2 a day and i ended up getting Vitamin A poisoning (not everyone gets this) my nails were turning orange and etc. The dr gave me Vinate Care Chewables they are the generic for precare vitamins and are much cheaper. The taste is very citrusy and i have to eat it with food for sure. But i dont mind since they are only $5 a month.
I read somewhere that we shouldn't be taking in more than 1000 mcg of folic acid. To the poster whose ob wants you on 1200, any particular reason why? I take a PNV that has about 900, give or take, and my ob was fine with that.
He didn't give me a reason... well maybe he did... he keeps reminding me how "old" I am for pregnancy (Im only 32, I could smack him if he weren't so darn cute). So mayb that is why, but he was pretty adament.
I don't know if this will help you, but Costco sells adult gummie vitamins, they are not Prenatal but a vitamin supplement is better than no vitamin supplement.
I have been taking them because my m/s was keeping me from taking my regular prenatals.
I went through a phase where I was having touble swallowing the prenatal horse pills and my OB told me that I could substitute and take 2 of the Flinstone Complete chewable vitamins- but i must admit they have a terrible chalky taste and weren't much better than swallowing the prescription prenatals!
how do you get select ob though? do you have to get a perscription? i tried to look it up online and it just had more information on it, but no way to get it. thanks though..it looks like it would be a great prenatal vitamin for me to take!
