We are starting to look at where to buy furniture and what kids of things we want. I'd like to keep the room clean and simple because we don't have too much space.
What are items you had that you didnt need? What items did you want/need but didn't think of? Will a crib, glider, and changing table with 2 drawers be minimal or enough to store what we will need? Our closet is huge and will keep clothes, linens, etc in there.
Re: Furnishing the babys room...
You won't use the crib, or really the baby's room, for a while. Our rocker started out in our sons room but quickly moved into our after we realized it was much easier to nurse/rock where we all slept. The changing table didn't really help out. We used the top of our dresser and just put the changing pad on there. It wored out great height wise since my husband is 6' 5". Get lots of closet organizers. We bought tons of the sweater ones and they work great for blankets, extra diapers, clothes, shoes etc. We also git the pack and play with a changing table and bassinet attached. It saved us space and money from having to buy both a pack and play and bassinet.
These are just a few thing we did to help our situation. You will find things on your own.
One last thing. We bought our crib at Babies R Us. We picked it out and then looked it up on the recall list. We made sure it was in stock at BRU so we didn't have to pay for shipping.
Hope this helps!
You'll be great with those items. A changing table isn't even necessary, you can change them anywhere, just use a changing pad. We also have a laundry hamper, a diaper pail and a table that his humidifier and monitor sit on and you may want space to set a noise machine. Oh, and we bought a blackout shade which I highly recommend and a nightlight that gives just enough light for us to change a diaper w/ out turning on the main light.
