chicken pox vaccine

what age do they give the chicken pox vaccine? my mom just came down with shingles and she's contagious to anyone that hasn't had chicken pox or the vaccine (ie. DD). this likely means that they won't be able to visit for about a month which would really stink but i wanted to see what you ladies know.

Re: chicken pox vaccine

  • I believe it is at 15-months.  Hope your Mom feels better soon!

  • DD got hers at 12, but her pedi was moving things around between the 12, 15 and 18 month visits to pair up 'big' shots with smaller ones, so not sure if that's standard or not.

  • DD's was at her 12 month
  • Minimum age is 12 months.

I had shingles when DS was 10 months. The only contagious part of shingles to children not immune to chicken pox is if they come in contact with shingles blisters.

Shingles does not spread the varicella virus via airborne particles.
