We are planning on moving to the city within the next year and are beginning to research areas to live. ?We really like Brooklyn but we need some ideas of neighborhoods to look into. ?Any kid-friendly areas you would recommend? ?Thanks!
Park Slope is probably the most kid-friendly neighborhood in the city -- not just Brooklyn! ?Prime slope can be expensive, but South Park Slope and Windsor Terrace are still kid friendly and cheaper.
I love Carroll Gardens and Cobble Hill-- very kid-friendly and tons of parks.... also a little closer to the city than Park Slope. Brooklyn Heights and DUMBO are nice, too... but can be pricey.
It's not as close to Manhattan as Park Slope, but it's green, residential, and very affordable. And with the N going express, midtown Manhattan is only 45 minutes away, downtown is only 30 to 40 minutes.
I love the fact that you can get a large and spacious 3-BR in Bay Ridge for the price of a 1-BR in Park Slope. There are four major park "systems" - basically multi-block long areas that are playgrounds and tennis courts and baseball stadiums and picnic spots in Bay Ridge. Great schools.
Affordable supermarkets and vegetable stands in each corner of the neighborhood, and plenty of restaurants to eat in that are kid-friendly, too.
Re: Brooklyn neighborhood recs please!
A hearty recommendation for Bay Ridge!
