meal preferences for bday party?

What would you prefer for bday party food with the kids being 2 to 5 years old, and the meal at 6pm at night after an hour in the bounce houses?

There will be cake/cupcakes/ice cream afterward

Re: meal preferences for bday party?

  • Well, for us, ds still doesn't eat thicker crust pizza very well and he does not like Mexican (although, beans and rice he will eat). He does love Chinese.

  • I voted for pizza assuming it's not DD#1's birthday...or rather assuming that the birthday child will eat pizza.  It's easy and quick.  Most of the parties we've been to neither the kids nor the adults eat much if at all.  The kids are too busy playing and having fun and the adults are too busy trying to make the kids eat or watching their kids.
  • Well i personally love sandwiches but EVERYONE loves pizza.  It's cheap and I don't think you can go wrong with it.

  • My kids are not much for sandwiches or bread period (meaning pizza).  I opted for Mexican since there is usually something they can eat.  They also like Chinese.  I think pizza is so overdone at birthday parties that people just opt not to eat.  The kids usually pick at it unless they are 8 or above.  We did not have a party this year but last year we had barbecue (hamburgers, hotdogs, and sloppy joes).  And...of course all the fixings that go with them (pasta salad, potato salad, veggie tray, chips, and fruit pizza).
  • Mexican always seems to go over well.  Chinese is hard if there are any friends with peanut allergies (we know quite a few so this isn't an option for us).  Pizza is good for older kids but toddlers/preschoolers never seem to eat much.  For Gracie's upcoming birthday I've just about decided to get those rotisserie chickens from the grocery store and just make an assortment of salads to go with them.
