Working up until labor question

For those of you that are planning on working up until you go into labor, what kind of job do you have?  I have been thinking this whole time that I would do this, but now I am not sure.  I might just work until my EDD.  We don't really have small projects that I could work on and just drop if I have to leave.

I guess my real question is, do you have a job where you feel you can just leave whatever you were working on undone?

  • I have been working this whole time but I am an Assistant Property Manager and will be able to just drop what I am doing.

  • Im a civil engineer.  My projects last for months or years.  I'll have to have people lined up to take over while Im gone.  I'll probably have other people in the loop for the last few weeks so they are ready to take over.  Or my work may wind down and I'll just work part time for a week or so.

  • i work in support for a medical software company

i do have clients, tasks & responsibilities but most of my issues are handled within the same day they are called in. however, even if they aren't then yes, someone else can easily take them over.

  • There are 4 people who will be picking up pieces of what I do.
  • i work remotely from home so i can be "at work" in my pajamas.  I do technical writing and everyone knows i could disappear any day now.  They are all fine with that.  Anything that can't be left i have written up procedures for the people who are covering for me.
  • I work in advertising, and have set people to cover me ready for my departure :)

This for me minus the part time...I'm working full time until my EDD bc I'm going into the hospital the next day to be induced.

  • I am an Administrative Assistant.  I sit at a desk all day so I think I will be fine working up until the delivery day.
  • I am a 911 operator/dispatcher and I can leave without worrying about it because it isn't a task job its a one call at a time job!
  • I'm a paralegal.  The cases I'm working on won't be finished by the time I leave so I just have to make sure they are organized.  Hopefully they will have the person who is replacing me (they don't know who yet) here for a few days so I can explain things to them.  Things are going to be crazy here when I'm gone.  I'm not answering my phone.
  • I'm and optical tech but I'm also not going back to work after baby is born. So my job right now is to get the other gals trained and ready to take over when I leave. I will still probably get calls for a couple of months afterwards as well.
  • I am leaving really soon and have someone working with me on all my projects so that if I go they can pick up where I leave off...
  • I thought I wanted to work until my due date but have changed my mind. I want to relax and do some just me things fbefore LO comes. I am a title clerk at a dealership so no I can't just pick one day and not comeback for awhile. I  told my boss and I am training a person at my work to do my job while I am gone. I am sure I'll be getting calls for help but it's ok.
  • I do sales and marketing. I have made a schedule to finish up August. Since I am due in September, I have made a tentative schedule for next month. I didn't make set appointments and stuff like that. I will be taking it day by day and doing drop by appointments for my sales activity. That way if and when I go into labor I won't miss any required activities.
  • I'm in benefits consulting and we work on teams.  We pretty much copy each other on everything on an ongoing basis anyway, but I've been especially careful to keep everyone in the loop on what's going on now that my due date is approaching.

I also am able to work from home as needed (as long as I don't have client meetings, etc.), so I plan to do more of that the closer I get.

  • I work in Applications Technical Support for a biomedical company.  I have a lot of long term projects that I will have to make sure someone else is up to speed on before I go.  I figured when it gets down to the last couple weeks I'll start having someone shadow me at meetings and make sure all of the documents, reports, etc are all somewhere they can be accessed easily.

I think I will get to being as done as possible and then take on some testing tasks

  • I'm a lawyer and have cases that last for months and years, so I definitely had to plan a transition of my cases to other attorneys in advance.  It was not easy especially since I was juggling lots of cases at the same time.  I was planning on working until my EDD next week but after my 39 week appt today i have to go on bed rest due to hypertension issues.

  • Project manager. I've been orienting my replacement for a month now and now only manage small things in case I go into labor early. I also am working from home now to be more comfortable (best thing I've done for myself this entire pregnancy!)

I work at a public relations agency.

In the weeks leading up to my EDD, I plan to update my coworkers on my clients and accounts so that they know exactly what needs to happen while I'm out. Luckily there's more than one person on most of the accounts, and we're planning for my leave, so most everything will be covered off on ahead of time.
