Babies: 9 - 12 Months

I am an @ss, really I am.

I do payroll and one of the employees asked me to cancel his direct deposit last week.  Well I forgot, wrote it down and still forgot.  Turn out he owed his bank money and since I forgot most of his paycheck was taken by the bank.  I want to crawl under a rock and hide, he told me he had to sell his guitar to pay his bills.  Sad

  • not your problem he is in debt. he should have sold the guitar anyway, it sounds like.

  • That's really sad that he owes money to his bank. Will your company refund him fees since he asked you to cancel it?
  • Wow - a request like that to my hr would take at least 2 weeks anyway. It's not your fault that he owes the bank money.
  • You are not an @ss. That money should have gone to his bank - he owes them money. It's his responsibility to take care of it.

There are no fees associated with it, we do direct deposit for free.

This.  I mean it sucks you forgot, but it happens.  It's not your fault he has to sell his guitar though.

  • Thanks guys I kinda feel less like I need to write him a check or something.  Must remember to check of payroll list, not just go on autopilot.

i agree it sucks but he owed it to the bank and was just trying to get around it . . . it also would take at least 2 weeks at my job to change that to!

  • Wow...totally not your fault. Sounds like that money belonged to the bank anyway. Most companies won't make a payroll change like that on such short notice, anyway.
