I forgot to take my prenatal vitamin last night and woke up in tears. I feel like such a bad mom for forgetting to give my baby the basic nutrition she needs! It wouldn't be so bad if this weren't the first time I forgot. I do it like once a month! Maybe I'm overreacting, but it just makes me feel awful when it happens. The only thing that is slightly consoling is that I ate really well yesterday: Fiber One cereal for breakfast, salad for lunch, cherries for snack, salmon, broccoli & salad for dinner and strawberry shortcake for dessert. I hope that was enough for her yesterday.
Wondering if it is okay to double up on my vitamins today? Prob not. I'm asking DH to remind me every night since I now have absolutely no brain. Sorry for the rant...
Re: I feel like a terrible mom already...
Once a month is nothing... sorry, but you are overreacting.
Don't double up on your vitamins. It is possible to take too much Vitamin A and D.
Maybe overreacting just a tad......lol
But I understand
....Just try and remember next time..as long as you are eating healthy, you baby is not missing out to much.....
I forgot all last week on vacation - it's really ok...

Thanks! Your baby is SUPER cute! I know I'm overreacting, but the hormones make everything seem like such a bigger deal. Plus with this being my first pregnancy, I'm obsessed with doing everything right because I'm terrified of doing something that could hurt the baby. Just normal first time nerves I guess.
prenatal vitamins are more for you than they are for the baby.
Baby will take from your body whatever it needs. So, even if you skip a day or 5, baby's still getting everything it needs (as long as you're not starting out at deficient levels) - but your body is the one missing out on the calcium, the folic acid, the vitamins, the iron - not the baby's.
Don't double up. Vitamin/mineral overdose is worse for both you and baby than skipping a day.
THIS EXACTLY!!! I forget my vitamins a lot... oops. Baby's basic nutritional needs are covered by the food I eat though. I'm 5 1/2 months pregnant, and have only gone through 2 bottles of vitamins (30 days per bottle), but I'm not a horrible mom and no one on the planet could make me feel otherwise.
This
I forget all the time. I have gone a whole weekend and not even thought about it. I must really be horrible then!
I think you and LO will be fine. Just don't make it a habit! :-)
Calm down. Missing one day is not going to hurt your or your baby. There are women who don't take their PNV at all, and their babies turn out just fine.
Please listen to this woman.
thanks...BTW didn't mean to insult anyone by saying that I felt like a bad mom. Like I said, I'm sure my hormones are just blowing things out of proportion and I'm hard on myself because this is my first time around. I'm sure all of you are great moms and hopefully I will be too!
We all have freak outs about something or other. But truly, no big deal. Vitamins are a supplement designed to help you out, not actual replacement for nutrition. One day is no biggie.

Yeah I really suck, then.
Don't ever double up on them, that's not a good idea. If you forget, just take it again the next day like normal.
I didn't take them at all while pregnant with DS because they made me so sick. I forget a LOT with this pregnancy, as they make me sick too but not as bad as they did with DS. I just make sure I'm eating what I need to eat.
I did that for the second and third month when I switched to a different brand. Oops! I'm sure my babe is fine. Pre-natals are really just back-up to your diet to "make sure" you're getting the vitamins you need but you also get them from foods you eat all day so don't worry. Women were having healthy babies for a long, long time before pre-natal vitamins came around. Missing every now and then is nothing to freak about.
I really mean this nicely...this post is SO cute.
It's no big deal. My vitamins make me feel really sick so I take them before bed every night. I told my doc and he said that if I'm having a really hard time it's ok to skip them from time to time to give my stomach a break.
Stop beating yourself up.
If it makes you feel any better, I basically never take mine because I'm a weirdo who can't be bothered to simple, easy things.
I am pretty much the best mom on the planet. No joke
You'll be fine. I think you're just nervous about the baby and looking for something to focus your worries on. Pick something else because this one is nothing
