nbr: has anyone gotten married in Vegas?

We are having our ceremony at Caesar's Palace next April but having trouble with the reception planning.

Trying to keep it casual and not too expensive.  Any one have any recommendations on locations, catering, etc for the area?

  • We got a package deal at some chapel that was attached to a Howard Johnsons (we didn't know that until we got there, but we love to tell everyone we got married at a HoJo).  It included limo service to the chapel, the world's shortest ceremony (seriously), some great flowers, lots of photos, and a DVD of the ceremony (did I mention it was short?).  Oh, and it was broadcast live on the web, too.

I wouldn't have traded it for the world.

Have you called Caesar's Palace to see what they recommend?  Some of the larger hotels have planners available.

  • I got married at the Riviera in 06. They had a package that included a reception in your room (deluxe suite for 2 nights also part of the deal) with so many bottles of champagne and a cake and a hostess to serve. The whole thing only cost us around $1500 and it worked out well because even with the suprising amount of guests that were able to make it (22 total, about half from Ohio) there was plenty of room and booze. :-)
  • we were suppose to get married May 2nd but due to a series of unfortunate events we had to post pone. Then I got preggers and post-poned until further. Anywhooo- i love the outdoor weddings. We were going to go to Valley of Fire to get hitched then come back and do buffet style dinner. Just try to find a reasonably priced one and reserve a banquet room or something. Or the las vegas Hilton has a great gazebo option and they do a reception thingy to=)

  • I haven't, but I was a bridesmaid for my friend who got married there.  Their ceremony was at the Bellagio and the reception was at the MGM.  They made all their arrangements through the hotels directly.  The MGM was significantly cheaper than the Bellagio (unsurprisingly, lol) but it was a beautiful location - a separate building from the hotel part and floor to ceiling windows overlooking the strip.

I think there is a destination wedding board on the Knot - I bet there would be some helpful brides over there!

  • I have not actually gotten married there, but we did plan the entire wedding (my gmom got sick, and we moved it home). I had my ceremony planned for Caesar's Palace, and the reception at Grand Luxe Cafe at the brand new Palazzo across the street. Grant-its a decent little walk, esp in a dress. But its a really short cab/limo ride (10 mins or less), and this is only due to the intense size of the hotels! Grand Lux is owned by the Cheesecake Factory (can we say yummo!) and was approx $12-18 pp...they provide the space, drinks, and desert. The restaurant is gorgeous...and a good way to incorporate more of Vegas!

Also know..there is a Cheesecake Factory inside Caesar's. I'm not sure if they do large groups/receptions though. Caesar's planners are wonderful..but Palazzo are angels. Never worked with finer... :)

  • We were married at Caesar's Palace 5 years ago and had our dinner reception at Cafe Lago in the private room. I remember the price seemed extremely reasonable at the time and the food was good (it wasn't great but there was nothing to complain about) although 5 years later, I can't actually remember the cost. We had 35 guests so wanted to keep the costs reasonable on the food so that we could do an open bar. The pros of Cafe Lago were:

    1. Great access to the outdoor gardens for more pictures during your reception.
    2. Private room so that we could do toasts with 35 people and not be fighting over the noise of the restaraunt.
    3. Resasonable prices.
    4. They stored our leftover wedding cake for us until my aunt took it home for us.

    Downsides:

    1. The waitress took forever to handle drink orders
    2. Guests have to leave the private room to help themselves to the buffet

Good luck. I absolutely loved our Caesar's Palace wedding. We were married late in the day in the chapel, had dinner at Cafe Lago and then partied until 3 in the morning at the MGM. Five years later, I would still say it was everything I wanted in a wedding.
