Is your husband a picky eater?

I'll give mine credit, he's come a long way since we started dating.  But he's still super picky about certain things.  There are things that I loooove that he won't touch.  Things like artichokes, avocado, cilantro, spinach, olives, among other things.

Re: Is your husband a picky eater?

  • Um yes.

Matthew won't eat anything with these ingredients:

    1. Sour cream

    2. Cream cheese

    3. Ketchup

    4. Mayonnaise

    5. Ranch dressing

    6. Yogurt

    It's ridiculous.

  • I think I am a pickier eater than he is.  He also loves spicy food, where I can only eat spicy food when I am pregnant.

  • My DH wouldn't touch any of those things. His salad is usually lettuce. He doesn't eat fish. He's a PITA actually.

  • no, not at all.  He will eat ANYTHING
  • He isn't that into Mexican food (although he will eat it) and he does not like salads at all.

I don't think Mr. Coker and I could be friends.  LOL

How do you NOT like cream cheese or ranch dressing??

  • Not in the least bit.  The only thing I have ever heard him say he hates is cube steaks, and who could blame him.
  • Not one bit.  We're polar opposites in that way.  I may have fallen in love with him the night we went out for sushi on a date and he ate an entire soft shell crab, legs and all, by himself....I wasn't touching that thing!  He will eat ANYthing!

  • He refuses to eat most raw veggies, won't touch any sort of cold pasta, hates onions.

So basically any food I want, he hates.

  • totally...and everyone thinks I must be the picky eater because I don't eat meat.  But, he's waaaaaaaay worse!  Makes cooking at my house very difficult!

  • He is the human garbage disposal..he can't stand wasted food (learned from his mom)...so he cleans off the kids plates, eats everything, eats leftovers that have been in the fridge for far too long...it grosses me out.

That said, he doesn't eat very much cheese.  he doesn't like avocados, artichockes, green olives.  And his salads must be made with iceburg lettuce...anything else and he calls it "weeds".

So, while I appreciate his garbage disposal qualities I guess....I usually avoid anything too unusual.....

I, however, like everything in my life, am a food slut....I want to try new recipes, new foods, I get bored easily with the same old, same old, I can't even stick to one drink for a night...and end up mixing and get hungover...its stupid, but I like variety (except for when it comes to my marriage...I'm good with just one husband!).....but I usually do not try new things because DH won't eat it.

  • I say yes he is picky...but only because he is a "healthy" eater.

    He will NOT eat:

    Beef or ham

    Yellow cheese,

    Sugars

    Oils or butters (except EVOO)

    Salt

    Preservatives or food dyes

    Egg yolks

(I'm sure there are a couple of other things but can't remember them right now).  Makes for fun meals (I usually make his separate).  He's been this way for almost 20 years!

My DH is the opposite of hopefulmom's.  He doesn't like when I try to make 'diet food'.  Overall he's not super picky though.

I had a friend in college who was like Cooker's DH.

No white/creamy foods (including any kind of cheese) and nothing mixed together.  Ugh that was tough!  He just recently came over for dinner.  I made steak and potatoes and green beans (ALL SEPERATE :)

  • VERY picky. He won't eat any veggies except green beans, and the occasional corn if he's in the mood. He'll eat beef stew if the veggies are cooked very well and the pieces are small. It makes it very, very hard for me to cook. To be honest, most of the time, I cook for me and the boys and he eats something else. Sometimes I'll cook him a nice piece of roast and he'll eat from that for several days - between some bread, heat up some mashed potatoes, etc. He is the stereotypical meat-and-potatoes man.
  • I thougth I was picky, but DH is way worse.  He wont eat anything that looks "funny" like pasta salad, egg salad, basically any salad with the exception of the "normal" garden salad.  he wont eat tuna noodle cassarole or beef noodles or anything with cream cheese in it!  He grew up on frozen foods like chicken patties and pizza, his mom didn't really cook.  My mom on the other hand always had cooked meals.  it's very hard to get DH to eat something new or something other then things you get out of the freezer isle.  oh and the only veggie he eats is peas and they have to be from a can!  and then he wonders why DS is getting to be a picky eater!!!
  • The ONLY thing mine won't eat is liver.
  • No, not anymore, thank goodness. I don't tolerate picky eaters very well.

He used to be somewhat picky when we first met, but he's come a long way. The few things that he really won't eat are usually pretty easy to work around: mayonaise (he's okay with small amounts in chicken salad, tuna, etc. though), most onions (he'll eat them in food if they're diced very small, cooked and not too noticeable) and raw tomatoes (salsa is okay, so is spaghetti sauce, ketchup, etc- it just can't be big chunks of tomatoes, sauces have to be smooth, etc.)

I don't think he likes liver, beets, turnips or radishes either, but neither do I.
