DD has been sick since Friday. We went to the pedi yesterday and everything looked good. She's not dehydrated, ears are clear, and lungs sounded fine. Well, I now have whatever virus she has, and I started carrying a pail around w/me last night. Good thing b/c I ended up getting sick while nursing DD at bedtime. Ick!! She quit nursing pretty quickly and when I looked down at her, she appeared disgusted.
I went to bed at 8:30, woke up at 10pm to puke my brains out again. About 10 minutes later, DD wakes up screaming, I turn on the video monitor next to my bed, and see her projectile vomit all over her crib. I rush in to her room, and she starts screaming. I yell for DH, and just as he comes to help, his pager goes off and he has to respond to a house fire. Ahh! DD screamed for 20 or 30 minutes. She got so upset, she threw up again right after I cleaned her up. I had to change her sheets and try to soothe her all while trying not to get sick myself.
After she settled down, she actually STTN, so I got some rest. Wow. She first vomited on Friday afternoon. She's still nursing, but not eating solids. I can't believe she's still sick!
Re: Terrible night . . . sort of TMI
First, I can't even fathom how miserable your DD feels. Then, for you to get sick, too...yikes! BFing when you are sick and nauseous is bad enough but wow, that's a doozy. Hopefully your H comes home soon to help you. While your DD is BFing, remember to drink, drink and drink your fluids!
BTW, this must be this horrible viral thing going around. My mom spent 3 days of vomiting and diarrhea (sorry, TMI) with a high temp. Her doc told her to drink water by the teaspoon every 10 minutes so that she didn't vomit it and lose the fluid. HTH.
Get well!
She said to let it run its course. No solids for a few days yet. She went all day w/o getting sick yesterday, so we thought she was on the mend. The pedi did say we could try pedialyte in small doses. (I think you told me about that yesterday. Dumb mom moment for me. I had no idea we're supposed to give it by tablespoon every 10 minutes.) Anyway, since she's still nursing we're just sticking w/breastmilk for now. Before yesterday, she only vomited after we offered solids, not milk.
