So we have a gentler, thinner, young man that came back to us. We got to the graduation on Sunday and I saw him immediately. He lost about 20-25 pounds. The graduation was great - the Colonel gave a motivational speech about everything they did, about the fact they persevered, they survived, etc... We came back home and I made dinner - he was amazed at the TV, the house, etc.... 3 weeks of no computer, no TV, no radio, no cell phone, no Xbox, etc.... He told us some things that happened there - about how they learned to use the compass and they were dropped off 3 miles away from camp, they learned about all the spiders, scorpions, snakes, etc..
They had a good cook that kept them well fed and hydrated. He said he learned that some kids had worse issues than he did (one kid just lost his mother to breast cancer and had no motivation). How he kept trying to just make it and survive. This morning he packed my lunch, and made me coffee. He starts 10th grade on the 24th. He's so glad to be back.
Re: Hoo Ah!!!! SS back from bootcamp
Yes they have the program in his High School. He's already in the Young Marines (xmary) told me about this and he's signed up. I will ask if he wants to join but if he doesn't I don't want to push him. He's very proud and I have to confess when we got his first letter I thought Dh and I made a HUGE mistake. Thankfully this program must be very good because it does seem to have given him some insight.
Oh Flo!!! That just gave me chills. I am so happy that it worked out so well, and that most of all he is proud of himself. I hope that he continue on that journey! Awesome. Seriously, I totally have the chills right now.
It sounds like it was a fantastic experience for him. I hope he follows up/through with the programs available in his school to keep him motivated and "gung-ho." Hoo-ah and all that jazz.
he lost 25 pounds in 3 weeks? Is there an age limit? Can you sign me up before me wedding next year? I only have about 5 pounds to loose so 1 week should do it!!!
Seriously that is great, glad it all worked out.
