I called my insurance to confirm coverage for the pregnancy/delivery and the lady seriously asked, "Are you sure you're pregnant?" Yes. . ."So you've gotten confirmation from your doctor that you're pregnant?" Yes. . .What kind of questions are those!?
I am absolutely amazed, though, that I only have a $20 co-pay, otherwise, everything, including the delivery is 100% covered. And I thought I had it good last time when I only had a $250 hospital co-pay.

You are all quite lucky. I have no insurance.. zip, zero. I recently looked into maternity coverage and as an individual it was going to cost $550/mo on top of the $200/mo for regular health insurance... and I am totally healthy! The insurance companies require that you have the insurance before you are actually pregnant so it's not an option at this point. I don't receive any benefits at work and our pregnancy was a suprise so we are in for about $6,000 - $7,000 worth of medical bills IF it all goes smoothly. Completely scary but totally worth it!
Anybody have any tips for doing it this way?
This post actually prompted me to call and I found out that I have a $500 deductible that I haven't used any of yet...ugh
I found out that all ultrasounds are covered 100% but don't apply to the deductible...ugh
I found out that I have a $20 copay for office visits...not bad.
I have to pay 20% of hospital admissions up to $1500 and 20% for newborn care up to $1500...ugh.
I hate you for making me call! LOL.
