And I have absolutely no idea what to take to eat. One of the days DH and I are on vacation, we are taking the dog out to this nice big field/park type thing and planning to have a picnic. I have a nice pretty picnic basket, but don't know what to fill it with (besides wine/champagne). Any ideas?

Chips/snacks

I LOVE to picnic. Are you having a full meal, or just a romantic snack?
Salads work well for a meal -- cold tortellini salad, chicken salad and rolls, variety of lunch meat roll-ups, etc.
Snack ideas-- hard cheese with fruit, baguette and soft cheese (try Boursin), any desserts like brownies.
Key to picnic food is food safety (temp issues) and travel-ability.
Food Network.com has a summer section, try browsing for picnic ideas.
Don't forget a trash bag, and a separate bag for your wash-able dishes items. These are often forgotten, but make things easier/cleaner/more organized!
Have fun!
All very good ideas! Thanks! I'm thinking snacky type foods, nothing too heavy. Cheese and fruit sound good and will go well with the wine. Chicken salad is always good, no matter what the situation!
