Parenting after a Loss

XP: How often/how many bottles your LO takes at daycare if nurses every 2 hrs?

DD is still on a bottle strike on week 2 of daycare :(   But I'm trying to figure out bottles--how many and how many oz for when she does take one (I hope soon!) If your LO nurses every 2 hours still, how often do they take a bottle at daycare? TIA!

  • Here's a calculator from kellymom: https://www.kellymom.com/bf/pumping/milkcalc.html

DD takes 4oz every three hours.  At home I feed her whenever she wakes up from her nap (usually 2.5-3 hours); at daycare they try to do that, but if she wakes up early they wait until 3 full hours have passed.  Good luck.

  • Even up to a year, DS would take 4oz bottles 3x/day and sometimes less than that. He was never a big drinker from a bottle but always had plenty of wet diapers so we were never concerned.
  • My LO takes 3-4 ounces at a time, and feeds every 3-5 hours. He still nurses every 2 hours when we're together.

  • Claire took 2-3 oz every 3 hours while at daycare. I know, it's hard to find the right formula.  I didn't want to waste BM so I tried to have her bottles exactly the right size.  I also sent an extra bottle but they never needed to use it.

  • Ds has always taken a bottle, but he'll take 4oz every 2-3 hours.  I always give them 4 bottles.

ditto.  I leave the extra bottle each evening and they use it first the next day.  This morning a bottle completely leaked on the way to daycare, so I was very glad to have the extra.

  • my dd is the exception to the rule, I guess.. She stays with my MIL when I work.. She gets 4 oz bottles, and she takes a bottle just about every 2 hours.. (in fact, with MIL she has NEVER gone longer than 2 hours unless it was after she went to bed for the night).. With me, sometimes she nurses every 2 hours, but a lot of times she goes longer..
