when to have baby shower?

So my mom is throwing me my shower and she wants to know when to throw it. I'm due 1/10. So when should I tell her. I'm not quite sure how the whole baby shower thing goes. TIA

I'd have it early Nov. Before the holidays and everything gets too crazy. I'm due 12/2 and my shower is sometime late Sept.

I'm due a day before you and I'm suggesting to have mine (SIL was asking about it) between Halloween and Thanksgiving. I really, really want to avoid the craziness of the holidays...and it gives me a good excuse to have it earlier rather than later.

I'm not really into showers to begin with, so it'll be nice to have it out of the way before the holidays come.

I am due "around xmas" (I picked the 26th just to get a more accurate ticker than I had before) but before that my orig EDD was 1/5...Either way my shower is going to be early/mid Oct for various reasons...I didn't want to get too close to the holidays and make timing difficult for guests and I am hosting a 50th anniversary party for my grandparents at the end of Oct so I wanted a buffer there too...If I didn't have the anniversary party I probably would have gone late Oct-early Nov myself. I would talk it over with your host/hostess after you have a general idea of timing that you think would be best and see what they think as far as guests go if it should work better that or another way.

I'm due 11/20 and mine is 10/10 at 34 weeks. I'd rather have it sooner but my family is busy with other things in September.

I would recommend doing it around 32 weeks. But like others said, you don't want it to conflict with people's holiday plans. You want to do it early enough that you still have energy to buy necessities that weren't gifted to you.

If you can, try to do it before the holidays. It's a bit too hectic to do it during the holidays.

I'm due at the end of January, so I think we'll try having the shower before the chaos of the holidays, even if it is a little "early." We're thinking of having a couples shower in October, and maybe a traditional shower in early November.

My due date is 12/21 and my shower is 10/10 think that is around 31 weeks for me. Wanted to make sure to get it in before the holidays and be able to do the last of my shopping for the baby before the xmas rush begins.
