Flu Season?

I know its early, but is anyone thinking about flu season yet? DH is really worried!

Re: Flu Season?

  • With baby being born dead center into the worst of it I've been talking over all my restrictions for visitation after baby is here w/ hubby already.  We are really cracking down on who comes over until baby is ready to be out and about in the cold/flu/RSV season.  I might be paranoid over this but I was a hospitalized baby w/ RSV so I feel a little more cautious over this topic than others I know.  As far as for myself...lots of oj and other juices....

  • I have definitely been thinking about it! I am a germaphobe to begin with, so being pregnant during flu season has just made it worse. I am definitely going to get the regular flu vaccine. I hadn't started thinking of visitors for baby yet, but that is a good idea too.

  • I am the opposite... I'm not a germophobe and I never take medicine for anything.... everyone keeps asking me if I'm getting the flu shot - and then they are horrified when I say, "Why, do I need one?" I feel like I should be more worried about it... we'll see what the doc says at the next appointment!

I'm usually the same way, but we will say anyone who has been sick recently (or currently because apparently we know some people who just aren't that smart) can't see baby till they are completely over it.  DH's aunt has come over twice (once with each kid) telling us the doctor said she wasn't contagious and guess what-a few days later we had a sick baby each time.

  • i won't be doing a shot, but i also won't be going out in crowded places. ob thinks i may be pre-term, delivering in nov. in which case we will only be allowing family in to visit, and if i feel necessary they will put on a mask! i read this morning on huffington post that dr.'s are recommending pregnant women stay in as much as possible and definitely stay clear of crowded areas due to the H1N1 and it's affect on us. it might be a conservative decision but i don't want to take any risks.
