My name is Stella, I have two daughters, Elena almost 28 months and Cecilia almost 8 months. My husband and I recently moved to Sterling Heights, MI from Rhode Island.
I don't know much about the area but I will be staying at home with the two girls. I plan on enrolling them in gymboree classes (unless you all can recommend something better!) and getting a gym membership.I'm hoping to meet other moms and get some recommendations or suggestions on local places and fun things to do or see.
Do any of you near Sterling Hts. have a gym membership? I know there is a lifetime fitness and Bally's nearby. Any recommendations? Also, as I mentioned before, any other options to entertain the kids other than gymboree?
Thanks!xoxo
Re: Hello! I'm new here. Any moms in/around Sterling Hts.?
Hello my name is Rebecca, I am a stay at home mom to my 6 month old son in Warren. They just opened a LA Fitness on Mound I don't know how good it is. I have not made it in there yet. You might want to check out the website meetup.com. There are some good groups on there. Welcome to the Detroit board.
Welcome Stella!
I'm Leslie and I'm over in Troy. I have a son, Matthew, who is 17 months. There are lots of wonderful parks in Troy, and the Aquatic Center here is fantastic. There are also some other water parks and beaches in the nearby area. We have some great walking malls (Somerset, Great Lakes Crossing, Lakeside, Partridge Creek), and plenty of bookstores and libraries with storytime.
Hello,
I'm new to the area also. Just moved here from Macomb but moved from Ohio to Michigan just a few years ago. Looking for Moms in the Sterling Heights area to start a play group with but am not due until March so I'm kinda starting early.
As far as the gym goes, I don't know if you are looking for one on one personal training? If so I can help. Just let me know if you are interested.
Sarah
We also just moved to Royal Oak area from TN. I have a 7 month old son. I am also looking for things to do. I would be interested in a play group.
Hi! I live in Royal Oak, not too far from Sterling Heights. Just wanted to let you know that there are a few moms groups on detroit.momslikeme.com that are in your area. One for Sterling Heights/Utica and one for Warren. This link takes you to the index of all the "neighborhood" groups.
Also, to the mom in Royal Oak.... if you are by any chance having your baby at Royal Oak Beaumont, you might want to ask about their parenting program. It's free and basically they set you up with other parents who have their kids around the same time. I love mine... it's for moms and dads, but they might do different things for stay-at-home moms!
