It was great! My parents are in Montana so I sent them a bouquet of flowers with a rubber duck and some white booties attached. The card said "We're expecting! Wanted to share the news in a special way." They were very excited, but not surprised since they knew we were trying.
Inlaws on the other hand didn't know we had been trying (mil has been bugging us since we got married 4 yrs ago and the relationship isn't that close with me or dh, so we weren't letting them know about our plans) so they were super excited and very surprised! This will be their first grandbaby! We took them to Hula Hut for lunch and DH ordered them margaritas at the bar. The waitress attached this note to both of their glasses that I wrote. "Looking forward to the year ahead" and on the back "or should we say 9 months!!
It was a lot of fun breaking the news to the family and we even have our first gift! His paents got us this precious armadillo onesie at the Capitol.
OH I do have a question also and can't seem to find an answer. Is it normal to have some little pelvic twinges or pains at 5 and 6 weeks? It isn't anything that is constant but I just want to be sure it's normal.
Thanks for letting me share!
Re: Have to share: Told my parents and inlaws about our news!
That's so exciting!
It's fun to hear unique ways everyone shares their news with families. We were lame; we didn't do anything interesting. We just blurted it out, lol.
Yep, the little twinges are totally normal. I got them a lot around weeks 5-8ish. Unless you're spotting/bleeding or it becomes painful, it's nothing to worry about. You may also get a little bit of very mild menstrual type cramping, but again unless you are in pain it's probably nothing to worry about.
Congrats! It's fun to tell the family!
I did have plenty of weird feelings in my abdomen early on and my share of mild, short-lived cramping feelings. I chalked it up to uterus growing & also the shifting of my innards in general.
Yes, definitely normal.
