Ergo Users - A Question

Yesterday I wore DS in the Ergo for about an hour at the grocery store. He is about 17 lbs. Near the end of the trip my hips were starting to get sore. I have been able to wear him the same amount of time in a ring sling no issues. Maybe I didn't have it on quite right? Any tips?

It was wonderful however that he got a nap in and slept all the way until check out. I kept forgetting he was asleep though and therefore was commentating the whole trip to him. "Look mommy is getting some milk and putting it in the cart." I am sure people thought I was off my rocker.

  • I talk to DS when I wear him all the time!!  What really makes it funny is that I wear him in a FWCC a lot when I'm going to have him on for a while, because it's very comfortable... and it can be hard to see him.  I had one old lady keep giving me the strangest looks, until she got close enough to see.  Then her face lit up, and she's like, "You have a BABY in there!!  I thought you were talking to your DOG!!"  (As if I'd wear a dog on my chest rofl.)

  • I don't have mine yet (just ordered it, can't wait for it to get here!), but the video online says the hipstrap should sit on top of your hip bones... is that how you had it?

I had someone say this SAME thing to me when I had DD in the Hotsling when she was a newborn!

  • I haven't really worn DS in the Ergo for longer than ~30 minutes (he gets bored and wants down).  But.... did you have the waist over your hip bones, or right above your hip bones?

I find it more comfy if I have it on a little lower, so that it is on my hips, not on my waist.

Of course with a littler baby, you may want him up higher, so you may have to compromise that based on how long you plan to wear him.

Ha!  We were with our dogs at a walk for the Humane Society (DS was in the stroller) and there was a lady there with a freaking Bjorn carrying her little dog!
