Jogging Strollers

Sorry if this has been a recent topic, but I didn't see anything on a search.  DH and I are trying to figure out what we want when it comes to strollers. I'm a fan of the travel system and then also getting a jogging stroller from when the baby is over a year old (DH is an endurance athlete, and I do a lot of spectating on uneven grounds, sand, grass, hills, etc).  So, I am wondering what kind of jogging stroller do you have and would you recommend it?

Thanks.

  • Check out the Baby Jogger brand (see their website www.babyjogger.com).  I absolutely love mine - its lightweight and very versitle.  They also offer a few different types for different athletes.  One of the great things about them that I wished I had known when I was shopping for my first travel system, they have an attachment that you can buy to put into the stroller and then you can click almost any carset into it so you can use it as a travel system, so to speak.  I did a TON of comparisons and shopping when considering a new lightweight stroller and loved this one because of its ease of use, light weight and the fact that it has a huge sun canopy and reclines all the way.  It is veyr hard to find a light weight stroller that has all of these features combined.  I travel a lot so its so easy to fold right up and stick thru the xray machine when you only have one hand to do so.  HTH and GL!

  • We have the Phil and Teds Sport Buggy... I like it but I am not a jogger... more of a walker and beach goer! When we were looking we tried out the BOB and we were told that it is an excellent stroller for serious joggers. The P&T does lay totally flat for newborns and think that you may be able to buy an attachment for an infant seat. GL!

  • We have a BOB Revolution and have used it from the beginning.  There is an infant car seat adapter you can get.  No need to wait to get the stroller...get one now and enjoy it!  We live in the country with a gravel driveway and a large yard.  We like to visit neighbors and go for walks both off-road and on the local bike-path.  A regular stroller just wasn't versatile enough for us.  My cousin has a Baby Jogger (another great one) and she is the one who turned me onto the good jogging strollers.  We are very happy with our BOB.  It really is a GREAT stroller.

Make sure you go to a store that stocks some of the strollers you are interested in.  Try them out, fold them up, etc. and see what you like best. Good luck!

  • no matter what kind you get make sure it has a pivoting front wheel.  our jogger has a fixed front wheel and it is a pain if you are trying to go somewhere with a lot of turns, etc

  • We have a BOB revolution. MH runs and i mostly use it for walks. it has a pivoting front wheel which is a must (you can also lock it with a flick of a switch for time you would prefer it), it has a HUGE sun shade, the shocks on it are awesome and make going over any terrain seems like smooth paved roads.

I take DS through a wooded rocky path often to get to our local park and it has always handled awesome. We have the car seat attachement and the handlebar console. I would suggest both if you are using from the start with baby.

Also keep in mind that you can't run with the baby until they are at least 6 months. 1 Year is recommended by the doctor. (all about the heads not bouncing around). so we used it for walks  wither with the carseat or with DS laying flat in the stroller. I LOVE my BOB!

    Good Luck with your search!

This is a travel system with a jogger!  :o)

We have the Jeep Urban Terrian Single Jogger and LOVE IT.  Though, I am not a runner, I walk a ton - have taken it anywhere, etc.  IT also lays flat and DD1 used it at 5 days old.

We have an In Step Double Jogger - it has a swivel front wheel that locks to jog with it.  LOVE it for taking two (which is most of the time).
