My rx prenatal comes with a 300 mg plant-based DHA supplement capsule, but I've read a few places you need more like 600mg of DHA per day. For those of you taking a DHA supplement, how much are you taking? I'm just wondering if perhaps I need to...well, supplement my supplement to get more DHA
Re: How much DHA is everyone taking?
Mine (OB Natal One) has 330mg of DHA. I've heard that you shouldn't have much more than that, I haven't heard that you need 600mg- that sounds like a lot.
I'd stick with your prenatal and a well-balanced diet!
Just got a 'scrip yesterday from my OB for Docosavit, to replace the Expecta Lipils. For 1, this way insurance pays. For 2, she said this was better - she said I could really take like 3 of the Expecta? But the info below doesn't show that much more of the DHA, so I am calling her back Monday. Check with your OB?
Breakdown of contents (taken in addition to pre-natal):
Vitamin C 20mg, Vitamin B6 25mg, Folic acid 1mg, Ferrous fumarate 15mg, Iron complex 15mg, Fish oil 310.1mg, DHA 215.12mg and EPA 53.56mg.
