I must be nervous. Tomorrow I have to move everything around to make room for plumbers and bathroom people to come and redo our bathroom and plumbing (starting renovations- the kitchen & windows are next). Meanwhile DH has to work so I hope I keep focused. I keep thinking "wow, wouldn't it be cool to have this done so I could think about the nursery". I also think about babymoons, and spa day's and basically anything that is something I can't do until this stuff is further along. Next Monday we move the dogs and ourselves to our neighbors' house and hope we will be able to move back by Saturday.
I am very grateful we are doing this-it has been a long time coming, but it is a lot to do in a short period of time.
Re: Renovating/Remodeling- anyone else?
My husband and I are do it yourselfers. ?We've remodeled our bathroom, built a large shed, and done all kinds of drywall, plumbing, wiring and carpentry. ?I think it's important to pace yourself, accept that sometimes things go wrong and not yell at each other.
Before the baby comes in December, we're hoping to put new tile, cabinets and counters in the kitchen. ?We're also re-arranging the rooms. ?Our bedroom is moving downstairs and the office and guest room are moving upstairs. ?We want our room near the baby's room and the bathroom. ?
I'm still feeling very able-bodied, so I think we can do it. ?
We're renovating. Our house is 153 years old. Its in great shape but was not set up for a 6 person family. We're converting the garage into an office for me and a very large mudroom, then the 10'x24' laundryroom that exists now will be split into a 10'x14' baby's room and a bathroom & hall way. Its hard because I think the same thing-man if this was done I could be working on the nursery!
We're getting there...the office/mudrooms are almost completely done already. We need to get plumbers and electricians out here after our vaca to move our washer/drier and water heater and remove an old wash sink. Then we can get working on the baby's room! YAY!
I also hate thinking of all the stuff we could be buying for the baby, or the money we could be leaving in savings if we weren't paying the electrician and plumber. It sucks but in the long run it will be SO SO nice!
We are DIY'ers too, but this time- since it is major electrical and plumbing (and it is DH's busy season) we are hiring out (also, it seems like we k now some stuff, but continue to have a lot to learn-and I wouldn't know how to do the br). I kind of feel weird not doing the work myself. Like a little useless. . . .
good for you guys for doing so much!
BTW, don't even talk about 'vaca' I'll start to cry. . .
hehe, have our DH's met? sounds like the pg was a similar motivator.
