Have any of you used this? Results? Any negative side effects? Is it worth the $120/mo?
A couple of weeks ago my OB prescribed me Reglan - but I heard so many bad things from the NICU nurses and other NICU moms that I decided to steer clear. Today, the LC at the peds office (first visit today) - suggested Domperidone. Another NICU mom told me about this (she was taking it) and was very pleased. I've heard many people on here say it's only available in Canada - but one pharmacy in my area has it (they make their own) - so I'm picking up my prescription this afternoon. I've been told it's about $120 for a 1 month supply (but the LC said if it works, we can order it from Canada in the future for about 1/2 price).
Re: Demperidone?
Hi-
I just started taking it on tuesday, and have already started to see a slight increase in my supply. Previously I was getting 2 oz each time I pumped (sometimes 2.5). Now I am consistently getting 2.5-3.0 oz each time. I was shocked at how much it cost too, but if it works I guess it's worth it!
I have not yet had any of the side effects that they list--headache, dry mouth, or cramping. GL!
Another NICU mom told me that's what she pays..and the lc said it should be about that much...but if it works we can order it from canada for like half price. There is only 1 pharmacy in my area that carries it.
What was the quantity of your prescription? I wonder if that is the difference between our prices. Yeah, there is only one pharmacy in my area that prescribes it as well.
I did come across this website though:
https://www.breastfeedingonline.com/domperidonewhere.shtml#CA
i believe it is 20mg 4x/day
One local compounding pharmacy was going to charge me $1 per pill and would not fill a prescript of fewer than 100 pills. I found another local compounding pharmacy that charged me appx $0.80 per pill and, also, had a 100 pill minimum.
It definitely has helped me. Been on it since early May, but am weaning off of it. Down to 2 pills a day rather than 3. Needing to drop to one a day and see if it adversely affects me.
Wow. That's the same quantity mine was too. Do you mind sharing what pharmacy you are going through? Maybe I could order from them and have it shipped. That's 1/4 of the cost my pharmacy quoted me.
I got mine from inhouse pharmacy.com for $120 for a 3 month supply. You don't need a prescription and it arrived in about a week.

Oh and that's for 30 mg 3x a day
Wow...thanks!
It is called Pine Pharmacy - it is on Main Street in Williamsville NY (if you google that, you will get their website) - It ended up being $110 for 120 pills (20mg 4xdaily)
