rec. OCWMG OB/GYN

I have been going to OCWMG for over a year now and was with this one doctor who delivered my son... she always seemed really lay back, which I thought it was good, since I am so detail oriented... and thought she would clam me down through my pregnancy and deliver.... well it turned out to be... that she didn't really pay attention to my conditions during my 3rd trimester... which lead to 17hours of labor and eventurally a c-section.... and trip to a ER after....

if she had listen to what I was telling her and what other doctors were telling her, we would have had a schedule c-section and  saved me the pain of labor and trip to ER....

so for my next baby I think I want a different doctor.... I love the nurses there so I do want to stay at Saddleback but I want a different OB/GYN.... please recommend your doctor~

Thank you!

Re: rec. OCWMG OB/GYN

  • I went to Dr. O'Toole and absolutely loved her.  I am kind of a worrier and she was wonderful about taking my concerns seriously and checking up on everything while still managing to lower my anxiety level.  She was so calm and reassuring throughout my whole pregnancy.  My baby was really big so we didn't think I would be able to have him vaginally (I had a planned C-section but my water broke 4 days early) but she worked with me and I did. Our plan was that if I went into labor we would try but if I wasn't progressing we would move on to the C-section.  My main concern was that I didn't want to labor for hours on end just to have a C-section and then have to recover from both.  She was so motivating during my delivery and pushed me when I was ready to give up.  I am so glad I went with Dr. O'Toole.  Good luck!

  • I go to Dr Evangeline Chu... if you are looking for a mom like dr. she is not for you. She is blunt and to the point- her goal is to deliver health babies naturally. While she does c sections she seems to prefer vaginal delivery. I feel she was very detail oriented and really monitored my pg well.. i had low anmio fluid at 24 weeks and the day i hit 32 weeks i was doing fetal diagnostics every twos days to make sure the baby was ok. I also had to do bedrest at the hospital for two weeks (which sucked) but bc she recommended the two day checking they found out the my dd's fluid was dangerously low (2cm) so yes.. shes not lovey dovey but she delivers healthy babies.
  • My sister was seeing Dr. O'Toole as well.  She switched to Dr. Linzey at St. Joe's for a few reasons (closer to her work, she has asthma and our pulmonary specialist is at St. Joe's and because of that felt it was better to deliver closer to CHOC in case baby comes early).  She loved Dr. O'Toole though and really hesitated in moving from her.

  • My Dr. was Anne Marie Raffo and I absolutely loved her. SHe was very calming, reassuring and never in a rush during our appointments. However, she did not deliver me unfortunately, Dr. O'Tolle did. She was great until it came to stitching me back up. She basically did not wait for the anesthesia to set in before sewing, so I felt EVERYTHING! It was lovely, to say the least. But other than that she was great.

  • I think we had the same doc (with totally different experiences), so I won't say her. My BFF goes to Dr. O'Toole and loves her, though.
  • I saw Dr. Kong at OCWMC once for a pre-conception appt. She was very nice and took the time to answer all my and my DH questions. I have my first appt. since I got PG in a couple weeks. She seemed nice. Anyone else gone to see her?

  • I am 20 weeks and have been seeing Dr. Elizabeth Johnson....I hope that's not who you were talking about! She was very concerned with a heart issue I was having and made sure I followed up with my cardiologist, etc. She seems very detailed orientated. I went to one of her pre-conception classes a couple of years ago and really liked her. She is also a mother herself, which I really like. Good luck!
