Maternity suit jackets

Ughhh, I was hoping this wouldn't ever happen, but I can already tell my jackets are getting tight.  I don't have to wear a suit everyday, but I will need a black jacket that I can throw on with black pants for a meeting here and there.  I'm an outside sales rep, and it's mostly business casual but for an important meeting you need to wear a jacket.  I thought I could get away with wearing my regular black jacket with some black maternity pants, but I think in about 2 or 3 months it won't work anymore.

Does anyone know where you can get a reasonably priced ($50 range) suit jacket? And, are they cute?

Re: Maternity suit jackets

  • If you're looking for a nice maternity suit jacket you can try Pea in a Pod, although they are expensive, you might be able to find one on sale.  Motherhood has a few also and are a lot cheaper.

Yeah, I was thinking of Motherhood, hadn't looked yet.  I may need to keep an eye out for sales at both places.

  • The only decent quality maternity suiting I've seen is at Pea in the Pod.  Sadly, it's definitely on the expensive side.  I paid almost $200 for my jacket, but really didn't see any other option.
  • I had gotten one at Motherhood on sale for $20.  No joke.  I'd look there... Oh, mine was a destination maternity store, but it was made by Motherhood...

    good luck!

  • I am an attorney so I have to have at least one suit to wear to court.  I have spent the last few months looking for one because I knew sooner or later I would not be able to wear my regular jackets.  I think Pea in the Pods stuff is awful, I just can't bring myself to pay $250 for polyester.  I found one great suit by Chaiken Maternity on hautelook.com but I don't know where you can find that brand in stores and it would have been really expensive if I hadn't gotten it on clearance at hautelook.com.  I would try nordstrom.com.  They actually have a great online maternity section and pretty good sales (you just have to check a lot).  Also, if you have a nordstrom in your area you can make returnds directly to the store so you don't have to pay shipping.  Mostly, I have just taken to wearing cardigans at my office instead of jackets and have my one maternity suit in reserve for whenever I go to court.  Good luck!
