calling all pregnant women in the medical field!

so I am in nursing school and my scrubs from last year don't fit anymore! for now I can just wear the same ones in a bigger size, but when my belly gets big that is just not gonna work. have you found any good maternity scrubs? do thy even make those? I have to have them in kind of a crimson/wine color, so that makes it even harder to find! I just don't feel like wearing huge regular scrub bottoms below my belly and gigantic tops to fit my belly when I am like 8 months, ya know? TIA!

Re: calling all pregnant women in the medical field!

  • I am just wearing bottoms that are two sizes above what I used to wear that look huge and make me look like a gangster. I have managed to just go up just one size in my shirt and it doesn't look that bad. I am a nurse in surgery so the hospital provides our scrubs so I haven't had to actually shop for any. I know they make them but I think their the cute ones that are colorful and not the one that nursing students have to wear. Some catalogues have them that you could special order though. GL!

  • I posted a similer question ealier today. I ended up going to the uniform shop this afternoon and hadn't decided yet if I would get maternity scrub boottoms for the future or just a bigger size. Mine are getting tight. Maternity scrubs have to be ordered but they don't make them in the color I have to wear. I just bought bigger bottoms. The brand I got Cherokee, has a drawstring front, what I like, but the back is elastic. They're not maternity, just how they are made. I tried them on and they are super comfy with a lot of growing room. If I need to I'll get the next size up again later.  HTH.

  • I am not in the medical field, but my SIL is.  Here's a website she told me to show you.  And it does have a red/crimson color in both a shirt and pants.  hope this helps!

  • I'm also a nursing student and work at my parents personal care home. I went to Wal Mart and bought some cheaper scrubs one size bigger for now. Scrubs are so baggy I didn't think it would be that big of a deal to just wear them a size bigger. And they make the empire waist tops now that may work for when your a little bigger. Otherwise...IDK! Good Luck!

  • Oh my goodness, you all deserve a cookie for being pregnant in nursing school.  Nursing school was challenging enough on it's own, I can't even imagine being pregnant.  There was a girl in my nursing class who actually had her baby over Thanksgiving weekend, it was like a 4-5 day weekend, and came back full time that next Monday!!!  God bless you all!  :)

Anyway, about the scrubs, I saw some cute Dickies the other day when I was looking but I'm not sure if they had them in that color.  I think I'm just going to get bigger scrubs.

  • With my second child I just wore bigger scrub bottoms. I could tie them above my belly for a long time, but yes, eventually they will only tie below the belly. At that point I only had like a month to go and wore big ole Tshirts with my bottoms. (Depending on your uniform requirements, ours is pretty flexible and this wasn't a problem) You can get plain big Ts pretty cheap and won't feel your wasting money when you no longer want to wear them, although after baby is born they sure were still comphy to wear for a little bit.
