3rd Trimester

I think my stretch mark busted open last night

On the right side of my belly button I had 3 tiny little red marks that I just knew were going to turn into stretch marks. Well, last night I was sitting on the couch and she felt like she was burrowing under my rib on my right side and sticking her butt up in the air and I pull up my shirt and sure enough the right side of my stomach is sticking up like 2 inches higher than the left (which was a first for me).

So I go to bed a few hours later and look at my stomach and one of the little red marks is now an inch long red line but looks like it busted open and bled. Is that normal? I put cocoa butter on it but is there anything else to do?

  • I've never had any bleed but maybe your skin reacted differently.  I do have a LOT of stretch marks on my belly!

  • coco butter wont help anything. it only effects the top layer of skin, andstretchies form in the lover levels. If it hurts or is bleeding I would treat it like any wound, some bacitracin and a bandaide, but I'm pretty sure thats a keeper stretchmark
  • Aw, that sucks.  I have some angry-looking ones down low that have itched, but they haven't burst open.  I would suggest treating it like a wound as well.

  • The stretch marks I got on my boobs started that way.  They were like little red marks and then they grew and looked like the skin had been pinched, like broken little blood vessels.  Now they are brown and eventually the Dr. told me they will turn white probably after I have the baby.  She also told me there is nothing I can do about them, you either get them or not and she just advised to try not to gain weight....FUN TIMES :)

  • I'm not sure if this will help with bleeding stretch marks but I have some pretty bad stretch marks that have become extremely itchy over the last week or so.  My dr said I could put some hydrocortisone on them since they were so inflamed.  I also have started putting baking soda paste on them once or twice a day (just mix up baking soda and water until it's a paste-like consistancy, spread it on the belly and let it dry) and that has helped ENORMOUSLY.  Makes such a difference, they even look less red afterwards.  HTH!!!
